I haven't gotten the Disney Visa yet and I was just wondering what are the advantages of having it? I used to have the Disney Club card and the only reason I had that was to get a discount on my trips to Fort Wilderness. Can you get a discount with the Disney Visa also? Any info would be great...thanks!

I have the Disney Visa and am also a Fl resident. They sometimes offer fl residents an additional $5.00 off Fl res rates if you also have the Visa card for room rates. Take a look at :www.mousesavers.com room codes and you'll see what I mean. You only get 1% back for purchases, so you have to spend quite a bit to get a little back....but I suppose it is better than nothing.

I looked into the Disney Visa, and for me it wasn't worth it. As the other poster said, you get very little back for your card purchases. I have an Amazon.com Visa that works better for me because I order a lot of books and also can order ToysRus and Target through Amazon. My neighbor had the Disney card and switched it to a Nordstram dept. store Visa because the rewards were much better.

Disney does offer lots of other discounts. This winter they even offered a kids stay free if you used any type of Visa. You did get a little extra with a Disney Visa though.

I also think that the rewards are lame. I do have a Disney visa but I only use it when I'm not able to use my AMEX...the rewards on the visa is small.....they just had a promotion for double rewards...still didn't amount to that much more....

We have accumulated almost $400 toward our trip in Sept. but let me say that 1% back is not great. The only reason we have a DV and are able to accumulate so much is that DH uses it to pay for business expeses since many places do not extend credit anymore. We don't use airline miles and the American Express Reward Program costs money to join. I consider this "free" money. Also, we always pay the account off each month.

Got an offer for one in the mail a few months ago. The benefits didn't seem all that great. They wanted to offer balance transfers but not give any rewards for them. A visa I previously had gave points for all transactions including balance transfers.

I love it, I use it for all my purchases and just pay the bill in full when it comes....Ive only had it a few months and we already have a few hundred on it...Im gonna let it build up for a while and then take a free trip. I do think they could do better than the 1%, but I just LOOOOOVVEE the idea of a trip PAID for by Disney.

If I would use my visa for everything like I use my AMEX I too would have had about $700 of rewards .....but if I use my starwood preferred visa that same amount will get me 3 nights in a $1200 ($3600 value) 2bdrm suite at the dolphin during my up coming trips...even with the $35 dollar a year fee....I get more bang for my bucks with my AMEX.....So, each person should figure what works better for them....

We have the visa and we were just talking last night about canceling it. We did get the 7 for 4 trip last summer so it was worth getting it but I think it is going to get worse and worse until it is almost nothing.

We have the Delta amex card and that has been worth it. We do pay a fee each year but that is made up in our free flights. We have enough miles to fly to Alaska next year for our cruise (if Delta is still in business) and going with another card such as continential airlines or american airlines credit card.

I like our Disney Visa. We were using a Southwest Visa to earn free flights, but they charge $59 a year which I didn't like. We currently have two Disney Visa's, a personal one and a business one. We charge everything and pay it at the end of the month. We earn on average $60 a month between the two. I am hoping that by our Oct. trip we should have about $600 to $700 in rewards dollars which should cover all our meals.

They have a promotion right now that starts you with $50 in reward dollars. If you would like the info, see me a PM and I will give you the code.:)

The only reason that I was thinking of getting the DV was for the discounts on Fort Wilderness. We camp every time we come down and stay at FW and I always got a discount on my campsite using my Disney Club card. But since that is no longer, I was wondering if the DV offers a discount like that also?

the only reason we got the disney visa was to take advantage of the recent 7-4 deal. that deal saved us quite a bit of money and allows us to pay off our vacation interest free in 6 months. after that if no other deals are in the making, then off to the shredder with it

The card is free, so it can't hurt. I used the card for the recent 5/7 deal. What did that give me over the regular 5/7 deal...? $50. Well, that was $50 I didn't have before the trip, so it was worth $50.

I use a Discover card for everything else. I like my rewards green. For the few places that don't take Discover, I use the Disney Visa.

Name a card that gives you back more than 1% and has no annual fee.

I don't think any of them are that great. I looked into an airlines card last year and I would have to charge $20,000 to get a free round trip airfare. Many blackout dates and an annual fee on top of that.

Only reason for Disney Visa was 7/4 offer. Got about $100 in rewards so far.

I too have the Disney Visa and like the no interest feature for booking vacations. Since it's a free (annual fee free) card, I don't see the harm in having it, and getting something back is better than nothing. We charged quite a bit on it on our cruise, so we have some reward $$ already for our trip this fall. I've heard rumors that Bank One is being sold to Citi corp I believe, so this card may change all together in the not so distant future. I suppose it's possible that Citi corp. could decide to do away with the Disney card all together. I guess we'll find out in time.

I have been using the DV because I don't do a ton of charging, but there are better cards out there. I would look into all the recommendations (I think AMEX Blue and Discover give you more cash back even if you pay the balances off monthly) and do what is best for your situation. I just got back, so I am searching for the best card benefits for my next trip- but will keep my DV in case the 7-4 deal comes up again.

Blessings.

In my opinion, it's only worth it if they are running a special (February's 7 for 4 deal). Other than that, it serves no use. A credit card from a Credit Union usually has a better rate and some sort of "1% back" deal.

I personally think it is a great card if you are a moderate charge card user like I am. First of all, it is a Visa, which is accepted virtually everywhere, unlike Discover and AMEX. Second, after the promotional period wears off, the interest rate isn't too bad. I always try to pay off my balance every month, but occassionally an unexpected expense comes up and I am not able to, so I get hit with finance charges, but they are moderate in the industry. Also, I feel that 0% cards encourage people to carry more debt than they should, so the finance charges help encourage me to pay off my debt. Finally, the rewards are ok (not great, but better than nothing). I have had my card from day one and I have managed to rack up $300 in rewards so I am excited to have that extra money for our honeymoon. Just my 2 cents:tongue:

I just saved $35 a ticket for Beauty and The Beast on Broadway. Saved over $100, so I am loving my Disney Visa right now!

I have been using the AMEX points program for many years and it is actually the same 1% as the Disney Visa,it just sounds better at first. AMEX gives you one point per every dollar charged,so if you charge $10,,000 on AMEX you get 10,000 points. If you charge $10,000 on Disney Visa you get only 100 reward dollars. Here comes the good part, when you go to cash in your AMEX points you need to give them 10,000 points to recieve a reward worth $100(such as a $100 Hertz Car Rental certificate,my favorite reward). So,when all is said and done,AMEX is giving the same 1% reward as Disney Visa.
