How does it work? I couldn't find the details about it (do I have to purchase dining or just tickets and room...). :cloud9:

Don't do it. If you can't afford to go, don't. You're asking for trouble when you start charging vacations..

It has to be a "package" - at least room + tickets, with or without dining (or if you are an annual passholder, room + dining). It is not for room-only reservations.

When you make the initial $200 deposit, you have 6 months of no interest. Same for any other payments you make, including the balance due at 45 days.

If you make any other purchases on the card any month, you have to be sure that you pay those charges off by the due date. They will accrue interest.

The date that the no-interest expires will appear for each individual payment you make to Disney. Make sure you pay it off before that date.

Hope this helps!

You made me laugh. :goodvibes I used the card to book mine. Not because the money wasn't in savings, but because I would prefer to keep the money for an additional 6 months and allow them to pay for my vacation for a while. I just set up an automatic payment to them prior to the 6 months. You can do that on line up to 12 months in advance.

You do make a good point though and I agree. If you cannot afford to go without financing the trip, save up and go at a later time. Always great advice.

Don't we all "charge vacations"? How else would you pay the deposit? I booked our trip last week on the Disney Premier Visa and was happy to get a few bucks back in rewards ;).

While there's nothing wrong with putting a vacation on a card and then paying it off immediately (or within the grace period for 0% interest), lots of people don't use credit cards for one reason or another. I did our entire trip on either my debit card or Disney gift cards I bought at Target with the 5% discount (our total ended up being about $3500). Not one penny went on a credit card, and that was exactly how I wanted it.

There's lots of ways to do things, and none of them are "right", just "right for the person doing it."

I charge everything throughout the month, including my vacation, and then pay it off at the end of the month. Okay, with the vacation, I'll pay it off within the six months of free interest.

But I earn cash back on each transaction. That's why I do it. Never charge more than we can afford, but why not take advantage of that? Even if it's only 1%, it's better than nothing. It's one more souvenir I don't have to pay for!
