We will be at Disney World on Friday and just trying to make sure I understand correctly what I can use my reward dollars on. As I understand, I can use them to pay for the resort and for tickets. Can I use them for merchandise purchased in the stores at the Disney resorts and at Downtown Disney or does it have to be for merchandise purchased in stores at the parks. Does only certain merchandise qualify? We are not going into the parks, but are just staying one night at the resort to do some shopping while we are in Florida visiting relatives.
Also, some of my Disney reward dollars are certificates from before they started putting the rewards on the rewards card. Is there any problem using these? They expire at the end of December and I'd like to use them up while we are there. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I used my $47 towards my AP at Epcot. On my April trip, I used it at the Basin Store in Downtown Disney. You can use it practically anywhere on property, except for maybe carts without cash registers.

Yeah, you can use it anywhere at WDW that accepts credit cards. I used mine at the Polynesian gift shop on my last trip, the CM even showed me on the receipt where it tells you your balance left on the card. It's very easy to use. -Stephanie

i was told that you could always use it to buy disney dollars at your resort, if you want to be able to buy things from push carts where they don't take credit cards. i think you could basically think of them as electronic disney dollars for thinking about where you can spend them.

i was also by the person at the 800# told that you couldn't use them to pay a partial amount toward admission (say the pass cost $190 and you only had $130 left on your card), but previous poster said that it worked toward an AP, so i guess i was told wrong.

I didn't have any of the certificates to use. I had no problem spending the rewards dollars on my card with the exception of the store in Japan (EPCOT). The CM explained that their cash registers had not been updated to accept the rewards cards yet. This was back in July, 2004. They may have been changed since then.

As far as the certificates are concerned, it was my understanding that they could not give you change back on the certificates. So, if you purchased an item for $7.50 with a $10 certificate, you did not get $2.50 back in cash, you just lost that amount of money. The certificates were in use for such a short period of time that it's hard to recall.

We used ours all over at DTD except Basin. They said that since they are not disney they could not accept it. No problem because it meant that I got to buy something else at another store.

i'm confused by what you mean by a certificate. when i called yesterday i was told it would come as a re-loadable "debit-type" card.

We had about $190 on ours for our trip. We used it for a couple of meals and all of our souveniers, at the parks and the hotel gift shop. Also all the stores in Douwntown disney. It worked great. They just swipe it like a credit card, but you don't have to sign anything. The balance shows on the bottom ouf your receipt, so make sure you keep them. the only place you can't use them is food carts.

If you're planning to use your Rewards card at DTD, be sure to ask at each non-Disney location before just counting on them to accept it. Some do, some don't. WoD definitely takes it, but everywhere else is up to the individual location. You might experience some problems if you just assume they'll take it. As far as the certificates, you'll probably only be able to use those at WoD (or any other Disney-owned stores), as the non-Disney spots won't know what to do with them.

Thanks for all the help and information. I'm off tomorrow to visit relatives and Christmas shop at Disney as well as look at how all of the resorts are decorated for Disney.

We used our rewards in the parks (did not try carts) and in Downtown Disney at World of Disney and other shops. Found out that the restaurants in DTD do not take them, or at least Bongos did not. Used the card for all of our meals for the week at the food court where, for some reason, they gave us a receipt to sign. It was a pleasure spending our $303 in rewards - bought myself a Mickey Mouse watch -- and am building more for our next trip!
