We just got the card. Finally! I don't know what took us so long, really. We just don't have many credit cards, and don't like having a bunch of them show up on our credit report... Anyway, it's too late for getting any credits for our late Sept-early Oct trip. But, since we live in CA, we can certainly get credits to use for a DL trip next year! Here's my question. We got some checks with the card, and there is no fee for using the checks. So, quick thinking me decides to pay our monthly mortgage with them! And living in No. CA, where mortgages are high (ours is $1500/m), that should accrue a tidy little sum by next year! Woo hoo!! Anyone else do this?

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Unfortunately, I don't have enough checks to handle the whole year.

Quick way to add up points though.

You can either request them online, or just call them up and ask them to send you more checks! No charge to do this!! :cool1:

I could be wrong, but I don't think you acquire points using the checks...or transferring balances from other cards. Read the insert that came with everything or check the website.

Not only do you not accrue points by using the "convenience checks," but, iirc, they are treated as a cash advance and Chase begins to charge interest the day you use the check until it's paid off. You don't get the small grace period you would with a traditional credit card transaction.
