Disney visa question

I tried paying my trip off but they said since i reserved online i have to wait till i arrive to pay it off,dont know why but thats what disney reservation said.Now i wanted to use my disney visa so i can get points so ill have more on my rewards card,but if i use it to pay off the balance when i get there is there anyway i can get those points ill earn during the week im there?See what im saying ,if i use my card while im there and earn more points and cant use them during the week,we most likely wont be able to use anything we earn till after they end up expiring.We have a baby due in march so we wont be going back to disney for at least 2-3 years so the baby can enjoy it.Disney said cancel the trip and rebook on the phone with them and then i can get more on the rewards card,but what if i cant get a room.So what should i do cancel and rebook on the phone?I usually do everything online but for some reason i cant pay it off on the disney site.

Well, if the charge is on your bill...you can pay it off at any time. It sounds like you can't pay it off because it hasn't been charged to your card.

Sometimes, that's how Disney does things. But I have found that to be true for PS and shows, not the room. I have ALWAYS paid my trip in advance and the charges were applied to my account MONTHS before I ever went. My Christmas trip is paid for already. Oh and if I wanted to charge more on the account, I could do that as well. Kind of as spending money when I got there. I really don't do that, but some people do it and feel better as it is money gone and as a credit once there (so they don't spend it).

Rewards don't become effective/accumulate until the end of the billing cycle, so unless you are there at the end of the billing cycle.....you won't be able to get and use them anyway.

You also have to have a rewards card first (takes 2-3 weeks to get in the mail) before you can call from down there and have the points transferred to the card. The rewards card is seperate from your credit card. If your billing cycle has ended and you have available points you can transfer a min of 10 points to the card.

The points don't expire for YEARS.

I don't know what the trip is costing you, but you can't even order a rewards card until you have at least 20 pts which is like $2,000 spent.

I wouldn't cancel the trip and re book. Just plan on using the rewards another time. OR really, this card doesn't sound like it's going to be worth much for your situation. You didn't have it soon enough to for this trip to begin earning rewards.

i already have my rewards card,i only have my first night paid for to hold everything but wanted to pay it in full today but disney said since i did evrything online then they cant except the rest of the bill till i get there.If i pay for the rest tonight on my disney visa id get the rewards transfered this week and have it for when i go in 3 weeks.My rewards card says it expires in 2005.

IF the rewards have transferred at the end of your billing cycle, and you go to Disney before you get the rewards card, you can still get a rewards card. All you have to do is go to guest services at DTD and they'll give you the card and you call from there to activate it and transfer your reward dollars. You DO NOT have to wait the 2-3 weeks.

I would call and talk to a different CM. Something doesn't seem right.

WDWAurora, I never thought Disney would be able to offer rewards cards since it is all through Bank One. Interesting.

They do! That's how I got mine! At the time (early March, maybe late Feb) they were telling me I'd have to wait 6 weeks to get my card and the timing was just too iffy and the guy on the phone told me I could do it that way. It was super simple and quick. That way I had no worries about it working or arriving-it was in my hand that second.
