Disney Visa Question

So I have talked to Chase and gotten two different answers for this question. One of the benefits is free 6 months financing on Disney Vacations. We put down our $200 deposit when we booked our trip back in May. When we pay the balance of our vacation in early October, will we still get the 6 months free financing?

I had one Chase employee tell me that no, it is only if you put the full amount on your card when you book the trip. Another Chase employee told me that anything that comes through Disney Travel Co. is given the 6 months free financing regardless of when you make the payment.

Before anyone starts up about taking a trip we can not afford, we have the money for our entire trip in our money market account. My husband would rather leave it in there for 5-6 months to gain interest if the balance is not accruing interest on our card.

So does anyone know if we would get the free financing if we pay off the balance of our trip in October?

I just made my 4th and final payment on my trip and every payment showed on my statement as 0% interest for six months. Good Deal

I've also paid for my trip in 4 or 5 payments; it came up on the statement as 0% and it also stated when that % was to expire. I've paid the balance in full each month so I don't know for sure if it was accurate, I assume so since it was in black and white on the statement.

Bolded statement is correct. I made my $200 deposit on 2/16/10. It was interest free until 8/24/10 (6 months from the closing date of the statement that included the deposit). On 6/30/10 I charged the balance of our vaction to my card. That final balance is interest free until 1/24/11. Notice that this is almost 7 months from the date that I charged the balance of our package to my card. My statement containing the balance of the vacation closed on 7/24/10 so 6 months from that is 1/24/11. Use your cycle closing date to your full advantage if you can! :thumbsup2

THis is correct. Each pmt becomes a seperate offer and good for 6 months. Also, if you charge other items so long as you pay the total other charges, you will pay no interest and the pmt will go first to the other charges.

I got the disney visa so I could wait and pay off the balance on my cc the day before we leave or when we return. That way if something happens and I have to cancel at the last minute. I don't have a 5000+ negative balance on my card. I'm not sure what you do in the that case I guess you just have to wait for the credit card company to send you a check.

Just FYI, any refunds that you receive on the credit card will be credited towards the outstanding 0% financing balance rather than your monthly charges.

For example, you buy a new t.v. at Best Buy, you decide to return it for $500. The $500 will go towards your Disney package rather than the original charge for the television.

But back to your original question: say you get to Disney and decide to add park hopper or additional days to your ticket. This will also be considered part of your package and will 0% finance from that day forward. At least that is what happened to us last year when we extended our stay.

I was told by Chase that since I charged the $200 initial deposit on another card (didn't have my Disney Visa yet), that I would not get the 0% financing for 6 mths on our package. I didn't look at my statements closely until I read your post.

Just got my statement today and have made quite a few payments b/c our 45 day mark is coming up. Every payment I have made since May has the 6 month 0% financing!! woo hoo!!

Here's another question.

I have the money in savings to pay for our trip, but if I decided I wanted to spread it out instead and take those 6 months to pay it, will I still receive reward dollars on the unpaid balance? Or do they only credit them to you when you take it down to a full $0 balance?

Did that make sense? lol

I've gotten my reward points on the amount charged for the month

Thanks so much for this info! I had the exact same question about the $200 deposit.

Also, to those who have recently received the disney visa, (within the last month), I received a notice after I already applied and received my card for a $100 disney rewards credit after your first purchase. I called chase and asked if I could take up in the offer.. they ended up crediting the $100 yesterday in disney dollars!!! So, you might want to call and see if you would be eligible as well.

Also to equinoxman, I am also in Cumberland, RI, we could be neighbors!

Hi,
Does this 0% thing only work if your booking with disney directly? If say you book through AAA does it work the same way or because your paying AAA and not Dsiney travel company you don't get the financing?

Thanks

Yes, it still works if you book through AAA because AAA sends the payments to the Disney Travel Company. It's essentially the same thing. You can also continue to make payments through AAA and it does the same thing towards your package. You get 0% financing for 6 months as long as you are paying towards a package.

Last year they gave me 0% for 6 months on anything Disney charged me for, including dining, photos and the Disney florist.
