Disney Visa points question

For the life of me. I cannot remember if you can use your Disney Points to help pay for your Disney vacation when booking? I know you can get things at the Disney store but cannot remember what other benefits come with the card. Help!

You accumulate points with purchases and then you get like a gift card which you can use on Disney purchases. Now and then we will get a coupon in with our bill ($2.00 CD, etc). Other than that we haven't seen too many perks.

I haven't used my rewards card yet. However, I just booked our reservation, which I'm surprising my DH and DD with where we'll be staying, and was told when I arrive to present my rewards card along with my other form of payment. I later confirmed this by looking at the information sent with my rewards card. It says to present the card at participating Disney locations to redeem your Disney Dream Reward Dollars for merchandise ... hotel nights. The example given was for a $50 purchase, redeem 20 reward dollars and pay the remainder with cash (or other form of payment, i.e. Disney Visa card). It also goes on to say that the card can be used with Disney reservations.

I'd like to hear from someone who has presented their card at the time of check-in towards payment of their room only reservation.

We recently booked a one-night stay at AKL at the end of our trip. B/c it is only one night, the entire amount of the reservation was due as a deposit. We paid the entire deposit using our Reward Card. We've had no problem using our Reward Card just like a credit card.
