Hi All,

We have a cruise booked in December. I have put the deposits down for two different rooms with my parents in one cabin and us in the other. My parents do not have a Disney card but I told them if I paid for their room with the Disney Visa they would get an additional $50 credit on the OBC.
First is this still true??

So they were saying they would like to somehow get credit on their Southwest Credit card for the 3000 trip. So I was thinking that they could buy Disney Gift cards on their SWA credit card and I can use those gift cards to pay off the balance of their cruise.

A) can I use gift cards to pay off the balance of the cruise
B) Will this cause us to lose the $50 Chase OBC even though the deposit was made with the Disney Visa
C) IF they buy gift cards incrementally, say monthly, can I combine the Gift cards so I don't have to call DCL and give them multiple cards?

Thanks for any information !!

Disney Visa is no longer doing the $50 OBC deal. (It ended on 12/31/16)

Now as long as you have a Disney Visa listed for your onboard account you get discounts off store merchandise (10% off a purchase over $50), discounts on some spa treatments on port days, discounts on non-discounted photo packages. (Someone else will know the details on what the other discounts are.)

You can use disneygiftcards.com to consolidate cards, up to $1000 per card. So, you'll probably still have to use multiple gift cards, but five is better than 20. :)

The Disney Visa perk for DCL cruises changed as of January 1, 2017. They no longer offer an OBC; the current perks require you to have a Disney Visa on record for your stateroom charges.
  • 10% off select digital photo packages (non-discounted)
  • 10% off select merchandise (requires $50 purchase)
  • 10% off a Castaway Cay getaway package
  • 20% off select onboard facial or massage treatments (non-discounted, port days only)
Here's the link with the details: https://disneyrewards.com/disney-cruise-line/

So unless you or your parents are trying to do savings with Target Red Card and Disney gift cards, I would just let them pay for their cruise using their own Southwest credit card.

Enjoy your cruise!

Oh Thank you all. That is really disappointing. I won't use the Visa Discounts since don't I get most of those anyways as a DVC member? Its looking more and more like I need to dump the Disney Visa. Thanks for all the responses. I will tell them to go ahead an use their SWA card!
