I just bought $XXX in Disney Dollars with my Disney Visa. I got in just under the wire for this billing cycle so I will get my rewards Disney Dollars in time for our trip (I already have the rewards card and just need to transfer them when they become avaliable in a few days). I have been keeping the money for our vacation in a savings account at Bank One, so I can just transfer it to the Visa card online. So I got a 1% bonus on all the 'cash' expenses for this trip with almost no effort!
It is the little things in life that put a smile on my face. I just had to share my 'idea'

I ave also learned that I can pay my electric bill online with a credit card. That alone will give us $150 for next years trip.

Yes, they would have to be some pretty large electric bills in order to get $150 back.

How do you go about redeeming your Visa points for the Disney dollars? When you say you got in under the wire for your billing cycle - how much time do you need before your trip to request the points?

When you intially request a card it takes about 7-10 days to get it. You need to have at least 20 reward dollars in order to get a card. It will expire Decemebr 31 the year after it was issued. So if you ordered one now it would expire December 31, 2005.

Once you have the card you can add points to it at any time until it expires. When adding points to an existing card you need to transfer at least 10 points. A transfer of points to an existing card only takes a few minutes to process and they become avaialble more or less instantly.

My billing cycle ends around the 12th of each month, so next month I will request a card with 20 points. Then right before I leave on the 16th of July for our trip I will transfer the remaining balance to the card for our trip.

thanks for the info - do you just use the card then in place of the Disney dollars?

We're leaving on June 24 and I'm going to "cash in" my VISA dollars on Monday so I'll have the voucher in time.
This program's real value is yet to be seen by me. I use the VISA instead of my regular VISA but it doesn't come anywhere near the old Disney Club membership perks.
You need annual passes for those perks like 10% off most purchases, meals, etc. in WDW. I told my family, whenever you are paying for something, be sure and mention you are an AP holder! I even saved over $400 off our ASMo room rates from the original ressie made in January.
Now that's what I call a savings!!

additional 1% on Disney Visa purchases right now? Mine aren't showing up, only the regular 1%. So I called and they said that the additional bonus dollars wouldn't show up until the end of the promotion. Is that what you all are finding? I didn't worry about it because my trip is not until 10/30 but now I'm concerned that this is incorrect information I was given and I'm going to have to fight for my bonus dollars.....:(

I saw posted somewhere else that the promotion ends the end of June and everyone would be posted with the bonus points after that. I don't know where that post is, tho'. Sorry.

Where do you buy Disney Dollars ???

At the Disney Store. I bought some on my Disney Visa for my upcoming trip, too. And I also prepaid for my room just before my closing date, so I could spend the points earned on that while at Disney.

Oh my electric bill is high, just not that high. I shouldn't post late at night... but they do average in the $300-$400 range. No one explained to me why the big houses in Texas were so cheap to buy... and they flat out lie to you about what it costs to run a pool out here. So make that $50 Disney Dollars.

I agree the Disney Visa is not a great deal. I may go back to one of my other cards, I like AE, but the DV is so easy for me because I bank with Bankone. Plus it makes my argument for going to WDW better, as it is the only place we can go with this rewards program... The AE points always seem to go towards flights to see Grandma (which is also nice, just not WDW).

Cascadecupcake,

Small world, I work and grew up in Cascade.

I just got my monthly statement and it has a few bonus points. The flyer said they will appear 8-10 weeks after the end of the month they were charged in, which is what happend in my case. I got a few extra points for March but my statement doesn't close until the 12th of the month so I did not get my bonus points for April even though the points for March are on the same billing statement/cycle.

The good thing is, it only took about six weeks for it to post as they showed up in the monthly billing cycle. Hope it stays that way since my billing cycle closes a few days before we leave for Florida in July.

As long as you have 10 points, can you transfer points in the middle of a billing cycle? In otherwords....can I check into the hotel and use Disney Visa as the card to charge against with my room key and then transfer points before we leave from our purchases during the week and use the reward points before we earned that week before we leave?

Your points become avaliable to you a few days after the end of the billing cycle they post during. So my billing cycle ends the 14th, charges that post by the 14th (charges take about 4 days to post) will earn points that will be avaliable around the 19th. The points do not become avaliable as soon as the charge is made, you have to wait till the end of your billing cycle- that is why buying Disney Dollars a month before works so well, the points will post before I go so I can use them on this trip. Anything I end up charging to the card at WDW will have to go towards the next trip.
