PixieMixie -- If the package is cheaper than paying individually, get the package. You would just need to check in to the hotel to get your card key. Not staying in the room would not affect you. Two additional pluses: early entry because you are a resort guest and an extra room if you should need it.

I tried to go through the numbers to come up with the explanation...All I got was

Room - $671
Tickets - when purchased seperatley not with the add on option in your package = $296.07

Total price = $1263.14

So almost exactly $100 difference from what they quoted you...

I tried maybe tax on the value of the food...nope
water park option...no
i tried seeing if fri and sat were different rates - couldn't get that to come up.

So while I understand it doesn't make sense and in all sense of the word free it is wrong but now the question is will you spend $16.67 per day for 6 days of eating? Or even go further to say $2.38 per day for 7 days of eating?

I guess what I am saying is even if its not "right" don't short yourself to prove a point...

For the OP the 130 seems like the insurance, I know you said you requested without, but I would double check, they like to always add that. Otherwise I am not clear on what is happening as I have not had a quote higher when we looked at several different dates.

As for all the we got a discount-they did not, it all has to do with dates and room type/availibility. Now that Disney charges different for different nights they can even discount only certain nights of your trip. Certain dates there was no discount. For the folks at WL it was a difference in your room type. If you want to know for sure what the room rate rack is, go to the web site and book a room only--not a package and it will show you what is charged for each night of the trip. CMs will keep answering no room discount because for many dates there is not and if they told you yes this package has a room discount and then there is not one for your dates you will be frustrated. For those whe already had the fall discount and then are confused why it costs more with the "FREE" dining it is because you have to forfit your origional discount on the room part of you package (which is what was discounted). Paying 200 or 300 more than you were and getting the dining may be an even better deal when you add in what it will cost to feed your family for the week. Depends on your eating and travelling style. The DP was still added for free.

OP you need to call back, I just called myself and got an entirely different quote. I thought there should have been a small room discount with your dates, so I too was confused by your total. I think you have insurance and other stuff on that. I was quoted 11/12-11/18 with 2 7 day hoppers, Preferred room at All Star Movies with DPP for 1201.94 no insurance. That would have a small room discount of like $20 a night which would be what I was seeing at that time frame. I was told that was all they had left value room wise. Good luck.

Does anyone know the % I need to use to calculate the resort tax on our trip. Also does the tax apply to just our room our tickets and dining??

Well, odd as it seems, that varies based on where you are at WDW.....

State sales tax is 6%, state resort tax is 5%......and Osceola County (Southern part of WDW) has an additional 1% county sales tax. So....

All Stars: Room tax is 12%, purchases 7%
All other resorts room tax is 11%, puchases are 6%

Now, these are from my notes for 2007......if there was a tax hike for 2008 that wouldn't be included here. Someone who lives in Florida ought to be able to tell us if there was a tax hike.
