Disney Visa change in terms

Why can't I find that button?:confused3:rotfl: Could you post the link to the "Shop, Dine, Stay, & Play" button? Thanks!

I just ordered a $500.00 gift card from the WDW site last week. I just wanted it to use for tips and for the Food & Wine Festval booths for my Sept trip. I'm not big on souvineers and seldom buy them anymore and the trip is of course paid for, plus I have the DxDDP, so I won't be spending hardly any money down there, except for tips and the F&W Festival. I just want to make sure I can use the card for what I bought it for. Otherwise I just wasted $500.00. Over on the theme parks board there is a thread about a PIN for getting a $500.00 gift card for like $365.00, but the conditions say that it may not be used for food, resort rooms, and a bunch of other stuff.
The Disney GC is not the same thing as the merchandise GC that is being offered in the email.

Here's a link to the GC Index Page. The are several links on the left side of the page, including the "Shop, Dine, Stay & Play" button.

Thank you that's exactly what I needed. The site didn't say anything about the Food & Wine Festival though. Does anyone know if you can use the gift card at those kiosks?

If your account is no longer open and in good standing, you will not be able to use those rewards even if they have been transferred to a rewards card. If you're concerned about losing those rewards dollars, use them to purchase a gift card on the Disneyland Website.

The GC has no expiration and once you've bought the it, Chase can't take the rewards back just because they cancelled your account.

Not necessarily true. We transferred DH's rewards to the rewards card back in the spring when they gave us the interest hike/close option (we chose close). We just used the rewards on the cardat Disney less than two weeks ago :thumbsup2

Yes, you can! :thumbsup2 My DH and I did last year and it was so convenient.

I was just quoting their ToS. In practice, things may be different.

Just out of curiosity though, did you close an account with a zero balance or did you choose not to make further charges to the account while paying down a balance at the previous interest rate? If it's the latter, you still have an account with Chase even though you will be closing it when the balance is paid off.

I agree. I am concerned they ill close my acct too (I have paid it but who knows what chase has planned). So I cashed in my rewards and bout the gifts cards from the DL website posted above. Just for peace of mind.

True, you can get them on Disneyshopping.com as well. :thumbsup2 I just like the variety of cards on the DL site better. It's a little thing, I know, but I like being able to choose different designs just for fun.

And if you have more than 1 kid you can get each kida different card. THat is our plan anyway. One gets Toy story, when get mickey, and one gets Tinkerbell. They think it is fun. And during Halloween and Christmas they have holiday GCs.

The account is considered closed by Chase. I just read the TOS, and all I found is that the reward dollars that haven't posted to an activated rewards card will be lost; I found nothing that said they could be lost (outside of theft or expiration) once they were already transferred and activated (though I admit that it was very tedious trying to read that stuff and it's quite possible I missed it ;)) We did not close the account until the transfer had posted and the card was activated.

I never would've tried letting it sit there with a closed account just in case but the amount was only $24.

I tried to order gift cards with my Rewards Card through Disneystore.com last month and it wouldn't let me use the card to pay for the order. But you're saying we *can* use the card to buy GCs through the DL you provided, right?

That would be great. After this trip, we're taking a two-year break and I don't trust Chase enough anymore to let my reward dollars just accumulate ... I'll want to cash them in periodically, and the closest Disney Store is a half hour away. Being able to mail-order gift cards would be so much more convenient! :thumbsup2

I got my letter yesterday. While the increase for me wasn't horrible, I hate the it is variable rate. I also fear that Chase will cancel anyway. I plan on transfering my rewards and opting out, thereby closing. I do have a large balance that I'll pay off with the old interest rate. I never had any problem with Chase until the past 5 months. In between doubling + my minimum payment on my 2.9% rate, and the other activities of Chase, I'm worried about future actions of Chase. Not that Chase will care, but I've been a good customer: I've charged and paid back close to $175,000 under the card (we used it for business a lot).

Thanks for the information about buying the gift card. I'm not planning a trip til January, and my rewards card will expire in December, so this way I can use my accumulated points ($284).

I have fixed rates w/ Chase on 2 cards (Disney & another Platinum Chase) that I did balance transfers on, so I am not concerned about interest rates at the moment as I don't use them for purchases.
BUT apparently, according to the CS rep I did recieve notice that my minimum payment was going from 2% to 5% as of Sept. 1st. It apparently those paper mailers with the book of fine print that I never read. Hence, I opened my Chase Platinum statement today & my minimum payment more than doubled. I always paid more than I have to, but was quite a shocker. The CS rep confermed that it was allegedly not just me, as I have an 'outstanding history' with Chase, but it's an increase across the board for all customers due to 'the economic times'. I heard 4 co-workers complaining approx. 2 weeks ago about Chase & didn't think anything of it... now I know why. My Disney card statement is now not due until October 4th. I am not sure if that is going up too, guess that is a waiting game. Don't want to open a can of worms and call to ask :) Didn't go up for September???

The Chase cards that I had where the minimums went up were 2.99% interest for the life of the loan. I read about it here first, so I was watching the mail for the letters. Then we got two phone calls from Chase reminding us of the increase. It is painful, but doable for us, but I feel like it's just going to increase the default rate on cards for a lot of people.
