Disney Visa Card holders - question about tipping.

I read recently that if you have reward points from your Disney Visa you can use the points for tips at Disney restaurants? If this is true......how do you go about using them when you are on the dining plan? Do you just leave your rewards card like you would a credit card and the server deducts the points? Which means, when the server takes the card - you will need to tell them how much to deduct - correct?

Just wondering how to handle this when using the DDP and rewards for tips.

Disney rewards points that are redeemed are like any other gift card, you can use them any way you wish. If you use it for tips, you would fill out the tip portion line like you would at any restaurant when you give the waiter back your bill with your credit card (instead it would be your gift card) and thats how they know how much to take off.
What we do is just fill in the amount of the tip, charge it to the room and then at the hotel just give them your gift card and have the hotel apply that to the room - its just easier since we eat at a lot of TS.

Please check the first post of the Tipping Information thread, there is an FAQ there. The restaurant would need to be one that accepts Disney Reward Dollars. Not all of them do. If they don't you can use the room charge. Swan/Dolphin restaurants won't accept either (but they're not on the dining plan so I doubt you are planning any of them.)
