Hello everyone,

Im Amber(28) wife to Ben(32) mom to Corran (7) and Daelyn(2). We are Disney virgins!

We are planning a last min Disney vacation at the end of our road trip in July. We will have our dog with us. So we wont be able to stay at a Disney hotel. But we're hoping to stay at a vacation villa. And hoping my SIL will go in on it with us. Soo much cheaper for both families.

I need to know what are the must sees and dos for our very 1st time. Im so excited I cant even see straight:cool1:

Where do I start? :yay:

:welcome:

Congratulations on your upcoming first trip to The World! That first trip to see the Mouse is such an exciting adventure and one that I hope you and your family will love!

I'll start by saying this: don't get disappointed over not being able to see and do it all. There is so much contained on Disney's acreage that most guests will not experience everything there is unless they have a lengthy stay planned!

How many days are you allotting to spend in the parks? Which parks are you planning to visit? Regular Magic Your Way (MYW) tickets or MYW + Park Hopper? If I (as well as others who will be reading and responding) can get a general idea of what you'd like to see, I'll be able to be more point specific with my recommendations!

Thank you for your reply :) We will be doing the military 4day park hopper. We may only use 3 of the 4 days. I know we want to do Animal Kingdom and The World. We mist see Gooshy(Goofy) That is DDs favorite character. And we need to see some star wars stuff for DS. I have to see Tinkerbell and Stitch. Thankfully DH is there to hold my bag and buy us stuff-lmao. We are on a budget too.

Im so new to the lingo and what everything means I apologize now if I just dont seem to get something-haha.

Thanks! First and foremost, I'd utilize easywdw.com's crowd calendar to see which parks are recommended for the dates you'll be there. While not an exact science, that website has it down pat on how to avoid the heaviest crowds each day!

Since AK is a must, do it! Get there early, hop on Kilimanjaro Safari. Visit Camp Minnie & Mickey for the kids, Dinoland U.S.A., take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch, and catch the Nemo and Festival Of The Lion King shows!

The Magic Kingdom, in my opinion, is a 2-day park. There is just so much to see and do that it's impossible to do it all.

EPCOT is a must see, at least for us. A lot of people skip over it thinking it's not "kid friendly" when it's quite the opposite. From FutureWorld to the World Showcase, there is plenty for adults and children alike to enjoy. Spaceship Earth, The Seas with Nemo & Friends (as well as the aquarium), Living With the Land, Figment, Ellen's Energy Adventure (great way to escape the rising temperatures as it's 45 minutes), The 3 Caballeros, Innoventions, The Character Spot.

For Star Wars, head on over to Disney's Hollywood Studios! Run like a mad woman at rope drop to get fast passes for Toy Story Midway Mania (unless you prefer 100+ minute wait times ), take in The Little Mermaid, Disney Junior Live on Stage, Backlot Tour, Star Wars, Muppet Vision 3D.

For each family it's different and a lot depends on your kids and how they deal with things, for some the rides are a bit too much becasue so many are inside and can be dark, for others they are a blast...so with that being said make sure you include shows like finding Nemo, Beauty and the Beast and Festival of the Lion King at the minimum...there is just simply no way you can see even a 3rd of everything of Disneyworld in that time...so plan 5 must dos in each park and then fill in with other choices is my best suggestion!

Thanks everyone! Were making our lists. Wed like to eat at the sci-fi resturant (i cnt htink of the name) you watch old movies and eat in a car like a drive in? and pizza planet.

We are also trying to find the best off site pet friendly hotel. That is our main thing right now. Budgeting is big for us right now. Seeing as how we are doing this completely on a whim weve had no time to save and prep:rolleyes1

I know we will go back next year. Cuz mom says so!! :lmao: So Im not to worried about seeing everything, just everyone having a good time:)

I'm jealous you get to experience everything for the first time! There is just nothing like it. I'll never forget my first trip to WDW. I just couldn't believe how magical everything was. Now I'm hooked and am doing a Disney wedding in Jan 2013!

First of all, HAVE FUN! You will never forget the experience so take it all in and take lots of pictures! The one thing I would suggest besides all the obvious is to dry a dole whip! Pineapple is the best flavor :)

We cant wait to have Dole Whip. We had the original Dole Whip when we lived in Hawaii, so this will be a true test of yummyness-lol

I booked our Character Breakfast at 'Ohana. We get our tickets to WDW tomorrow. I also booked my doggie her Disney Pet Resort stay for our last day.

Now Im working on the kids "1st time to Disney" shirts and other fun clothes to wear while were there:) A special wardrobe for Disney? Coming up! I know Im not alone;)

Make sure you go to City Hall in Magic Kingdom and get the free "1st Time" buttons!! You can also get them at Animal Kingdom (at Guest Services), or any of the other parks.:thumbsup2

Thats awesome! Thanks,Kaler! Is it the same button for all the parks or is there a different one for each park?
