Disney Vacay with the Love Bugs (New 6/23 update ~ Chef Mickeys)

Hi there! Just read your entire TR!

Your family is too cute! I LOVE the idea of boy/girl twins! And how great they get along!

Their hats are hilarious!! It makes me want to buy a silly hat for our trip this summer. Although the August heat might make me steer towards something cooler than Levi's hat. :lmao: Maybe a simple :earsgirl:

So sorry to hear Lexi wasn't a fan of ToT. I haven't ridden it since 95, but I'm really looking forward to riding it again!

And thanks for the UK phone booth numbers! I put them in my cell phone and plan to use them in Epcot! :joker:

hi! came over to read about CBR and got sucked in! looking forward to hearing more!

Brad & I went to Myrtle Beach this past week. It was a couples only trip, no kids. The weather turned cold, but we still had a fun time. I did terrible with taking pictures, as in not taking any. This is the only picture from the whole trip taken by one of the guys. The girls & I did get in plenty of walking on the beach & at the outlets shopping! :goodvibes

Now to get caught back up with my TR & everyone else!

After seeing Indiana Jones, it was now time for our Sci-Fi lunch.

When I checked us in, the CM told me if I wanted a ‘Car’ table we would have to wait, but we could be seated immediately if we sat in a ‘flying saucer’ table. He sounded like he was trying to talk me into the ‘Flying Saucer’. I told him that we would wait on a table. I couldn’t imagine how disappointed my kids would be if we walked into that restaurant & saw everyone else sitting in those car tables & we were not.

Lexi is Daisy Duke

We were called in. I had not told Lexi & Levi anything about the restaurant because I wanted them to be surprised when they walked in. The wait & the trouble I had to get the reservation was worth it just for the reaction from Lexi & Levi when they walked into the restaurant. They thought it was the coolest thing & said it was their favorite restaurant of the week.

The film clips were cute. Brad & the kids orders burgers. I ordered the pasta. We ordered a vanilla & Oreo milkshake for our dessert. It was all great.

We left full & went to Backlot Tours.

We found ourselves here again. Lexi wanted to pose like we were lost.

WDW2010435.jpg

My favorite thing about Backlot Tours was seeing the CM’s working/sewing all the costumes & outfits. I had no idea they made all of WDW outfits on location.

Later, as we were walking past TSM, we saw this green army man. We thought he was a prop & not real. Lexi & Levi posed with him for a picture. Right after this picture was taken, Levi tried to look inside the Army mans belt bag. That’s when green Army man moved & jumped toward Levi. It scared Levi & Lexi to death (Heck, I even screamed!) & it got a great laugh from everyone else standing around us that knew he was real.

We then went to a Great Movie Ride. It was our 1st time & I’ve read that it has a Western & Gangster side. We had the Gangster.

Great update! I love that you kept the whole concept of Sci Fi a secret from the kids..they must have just loved it!!

I like the "we're lost" pose:lmao:

I love the Backlot Tour too!!!

How fun that you kept the sci-fi atmosphere a surprise for your kids, I can see why they loved it so much.

Love the "lost" pic and can't wait to hear more:goodvibes

I didn't realize that you were keeping the details of Sci-Fi a secret! What a fun surprise for them! LOVE that place. We do TS here more than any other spot, it seems. It's just too much fun!

The green army man was soooo funny! :lmao:

Great update! I'm so glad to hear you liked Sci-Fi...it's one of my favorites! Madison didn't really like it because some of the movie clips scared her a little bit.

The Backlot Tour used to be SO much better than it is now....a lot longer and more interesting. I can't believe you had never done the GMR!!! We like both the cowboy and the gangster, but the cowboy is our favorite.

Well worth the wait for the car table at SciFi! :)

Hope you had tons of fun on your couples weekend!

Glad you liked Sci Fi! That is one of our favorites, we eat there for lunch every trip. That is so funny about the green army men. It would have made me scream as well.

Oh come on, admit it. You really were lost, weren't you? ;)

We really liked Sci-Fi too. My wife definitely wants to go back there.

LOVE the pic of you guys in the car at Sci-Fi and how you and Lexi have the same expression and have your head held the same way! :goodvibes

Your kids are SO cute. Like all of these pictures are absolutely adorable.

And your review made me want to go to Sci Fi! I haven't been there since I was 12 and I only went one time. The atmosphere is super cool! Did you like that pasta dish? It looks kind of good actually haha

Also, about the people sewing all of the costumes... I went on this one tour for my 16th birthday in Disney and it was an all day tour.. I think it was called Backstage Magic or something. But they actually took us to where they were creating the costumes and showed us how they designed them. And it was probably the COOLEST thing I've ever seen. It made me wish I could sew because I would love to have that job.

They also showed us the "cast only" area of the Magic Kingdom (the "tunnels") and where the ride vehicles are created, and on the stage of the American Adventure and the technical area of Tower of Terror. Best day ever.

You have to be 16 when you go on that tour, but if either of your kids are really obsessed with Disney at that age, you should take them. Because that tour was unbelievable. I couldn't believe all of the cool stuff that happens behind the scenes. And I feel like you'd enjoy it if you liked that little sneak peak at the sewing area.

Wonderful update :) Can't wait till the next one! :yay:

you know the last time i went on the great movie ride, we had the gangster scene, where we had always had the western one in the past...i told the wife that they redid the ride...it wasnt until recentely that i have seen people talk about two versions of the ride, that i realized we finally got the other version on that trip...

that army guy interaction is great, i love when stuff like that happens.

i would do that all day if i was one of those army guys...

I'm glad you waited for a car-- I feel like that's the whole point of eating at Sci Fi! Your food looks really good, too!
We love GMR-- so great to see all of the film clips at the end! The Wizard of Oz scene is great too, of course!

I love the update.

Sci Fi is definitely a unique dinning experience. Very cool that you surprised the kids with it!

I didn't realize the GMR had two versions. Every time I have ever gone on it it was gangster...

And your experience with the green army guy.... :rotfl:

Man, do I love the Sci-Fi! Our DD doesn't want to go next trip because she finds the clips to "scary". Oh please! Anyways, I was a chicken at her age too, so we're gonna give 50's Prime Time a try, but I love sitting in the car watching those old movie clips. I've seen most of those movies (not the originals, but on Myster Science Theatre 3000) so watching the trailers is a hoot. Plus they have one of the absolute best desserts in all of WDW - the Orea milkshake. AND if you are looking for extra sweets and are on the DDP - you can order the milkshake as your drink, and still order dessert!

DW and my first ever experience together at WDW (back in 1997) was with the green army men. They used to hang outside the entrance of DHS (then MGM) and stay still and scare people. Nowadays, they don't usually seem to do that. Glad they surprised your kids!

Oh...and while they do have a "Western" side to the GMR, I think they almost never run it.

I love Sci-Fi!!! I need to get back there soon I miss it!! :(

That "lost" pic is so adorable! Lexi seems super creative! :thumbsup2

I love the army man story! They do look just like toys!!!! So props to Disney for that! :thumbsup2

Can't wait for more!popcorn::

great update!!!

I always loved Sci Fi as a kid!! Your pasta looks awesome! I don't remember when the last time it was that I ate there but we've always had good meals there but super slow service which is a turn-off :( When you've seen the clips 3x in one meal it's a bit long haha. Those cars are pretty awesome!

you definitely don't need a furry hat in the summer.

i know, the atmosphere is just too cool! All of the restaurants we pick is for the kids & that one was really great! I would have loved to have eaten at a restaurant like that when i was young!

great update! I love that you kept the whole concept of sci fi a secret from the kids..they must have just loved it!!

it was so neat to hear & see their amazement of it when they walked into the room. I can still picture it like it was yesterday.

i like the "we're lost" pose:lmao:

i love the backlot tour too!!!

how fun that you kept the sci-fi atmosphere a surprise for your kids, i can see why they loved it so much.

Love the "lost" pic and can't wait to hear more:goodvibes

i'm glad i was able to keep some secrets for the trip too. It's hard when you know they will like something & you want to tell them about it. This one turned out great being a secret.

i didn't realize that you were keeping the details of sci-fi a secret! What a fun surprise for them! Love that place. We do ts here more than any other spot, it seems. It's just too much fun!

it was fun. And, i know it seems so much more amazing when you're a kid!

the green army man was soooo funny! :lmao:

that army guy really fooled us. We kept standing there debating on whether he was real or not, then decided that he was not real. I don't know how they stand so still for so long!
