I emailed them over the weekend about booking some dining for us for May. I thought I would pass along the very unexpected message I received: Since you have to call on one of them, do it yourself...

Hello,
We received your email over the weekend as far as booking for the Buffet you will need to call our Disney Dinning office to book that reservation as we do not have access from Vacation Planning to book that for you.
Then since you have them booking the Buffet, it would be easiest to have Disney Dinning book the rest of your dinning reservation requests. Their number is 714-781-3463.

Thank You and Enjoy your stay with the Disneyland Resort.

I am completely taken aback. I can't say this is necessarily unusual, but it sure does tick me off. This is part of what they are supposed to help with when staying onsite. Oh well, time to find some time to do it myself. Stinks.

(BTW, last year when I directly contacted the person Jack recommends, I had no issues.)

Update: I figured I would just update here. I did contact Lauren, who Jack recommends with the exact same requests. They have all been met... including the unbookable buffet! lol. So the moral of the story is that if you randomly contact VP, you may get a dud. Contact Lauren and it gets done right!

Had a similar experience when I emailed and called to set up an experience for my kids. I have 3 boys and wanted to customize the basket to include all three and was basically told I had to choose what was there. I just canceled the whole thing. :sad2: Almost felt like I was bothering them when I called, after being told in an email that I should call to set it up.:confused3 Email is the easiest way for me to do things as I'm constantly on the go. Oh well, we are going to have a GREAT time anyways! Planned everything myself, will just have hubby drop it off in the room on our way up!:thumbsup2

Do the email confirmations of reservations still end with:

TTake advantage of Disney's FREE Vacation Planning services. This exclusive benefit for Resort Hotel guests will add even more magic to your vacation! Let us reserve a magical theme-park tour for you, schedule your massage, take care of your dinner reservations and much more!

If so, I'd be writing back immediately!

I don't know what Buffet you were trying to book, but to then tell you to do the other reservations yourself... Now, I personally have never used them b/c I don't want to leave anything I deem important up to someone else. But others do use them, and that's one of the services they should provide. At least...they are supposed to, if that's still in reservation email confirmations.

If that's a direct quote from them, they've got several grammar/spelling issues, too! "dinning"? really???? :sad2:

The ladies name is Lauren Flicker and she has always been or the top with our wants and needs. Seems very strange so I would call again. Best of luck,

Jack

It is a direct quote, from someone other than Lauren, who's name I have chosen not to share. I did remove the full name of the buffet being that I am paranoid about travel sometimes and people knowing where we are when, lol. But other than that, not altered in the least.

I re-emailed everything to Lauren last night. Serves me right for not doing that in the first place. Really sad attitude though!

OMG!! That is shocking. First, because it flatly tells you to do it all yourself. Hello? What is the point of Vacation Planning services? Finally, because the writing in that email is an atrocity this English teacher cannot abide.

Disney, tell me it ain't so!!

I think I'd to respond with something like "I'm sorry, isn't that what you are supposed to assist me with? DiNing reservations?" and yes, I'd probably be snarky enough to point out the spelling error in dinning.......

I'm sure you'll get better results with Jack's gal, it seems she's on top of it!!

It took all I had NOT to send the snarky email back. But I figure it will do no good when I can just do what I should have in the first place and contact Lauren. I am going to have to figure out who to contact to report this where I'm not going to get the standard disney response email. I'm the kind that just goes to managers to report it.

I'm thinking Lauren could perhaps point you in the right direction there. :)
