An interesting document has leaked onto the internet confirming Disney Vacation Club will be building another resort at Walt Disney World in the next few years. Earlier this year, rumors of a California-themed resort to be located between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort began circulating. Well, it seems those rumors are true:

DISNEY VACATION CLUB CALIFORNIA COAST HOTEL – ORLANDO, FLORIDA

Disney Vacation Club decided to extend its hotel experience with their new California Coast Resort at H1, Lake Buena Vista, Orlando, Florida. George Coon was invited by the DVC Design Team to work under the direct supervision of GSB Architects, and Mr. Wing Chao, providing design direction for this next and possibly best of the DVC properties in Orlando. California’s remarkable coast offers an experience of recognizable icons which were chosen to be represented in separate hotel experiences including; Venice Beach, Casa del Mar, Montage, the Balboa Pavilion, Laguna Hills, Newport Beach, and Santa Barbara. The project is presently in the Schematic Design Phase.

COMPLETION DATE: Estimated 2012

SIZE: Estimated 1,208 units

PROJECT COST: To Be Determined

No more details are available at this time, but stay tuned to WDW News Today as more information becomes available on this breaking story.

The link to that document has been deleted. I'm sure they did not intend for it to become public knowledge. If it's like BLT, they will deny it even when construction is almost done.

Between this and the rumored FW construction, how many more members can DVC sustain?

It is my understanding that the 2012 completion date is just for the design. The resort would be built after that. Interested in seeing the designs.:goodvibes

It only proves they had plans, Eagle Pines had plans also and was never built.

Pretty sure that article is outdated...

Wing Chao is no longer with Disney....:confused3

When I see these I always remember the DVC in Times Square, NYC. The artist renderings were even in the NY Times.

Until I see the groundbreaking, I don't believe it.

Exactly. I have no doubt both projects are being planned, but which one actually gets built would still be up for grabs.

I agree! I wish they would build another park or something else to lessen the constant crowds instead of another resort. Ugh!

Heck....I'd be happy with any kind of expansion at Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom.

I believe DHS and AK receive a small percentage of the visitors that MK and Epcot receive. I would rather see more work done at these parks than to have a fifth park.

For example, adding several well designed Pixar related attractions to DHS could do wonders for the DHS attendance numbers. If DHS had demand even close to Epcot, selling a California Themed DVC with walking access to DHS and Blizzard Beach would draw a lot of interest.

Additionally, there is much they could do at AK to boost attendance numbers there.

So both the Fort Wilderness Villas and the HS/California DVCs might be built at the same time. I love more choices of places to stay, but I fully agree that the crowds in the parks are getting out of hand. EMH isn't even worth attending anymore as the crowds are worse than during the day.

I honestly don't want to see them add a fifth park either. Four is perfect, they just need to fix/revamp and add onto what's there already.

Don't forget they're adding the "new" section across from POP. Where are their industrial engineers to tell them their plans are out of whack? I know they have them... DS used a WDW recruiting video to explain to me what his degree choice was. We're not professionals and yet we can see the over crowding problem escalating. Why can't they?

Actually, I can see building a California Coast themed DVC adjacent to HS. It would be nice to walk to that park. Seems it would fit nicely. They could build between HS and BB and have easy access to both. I'd love that.

Well I tried getting 8 different reservations this week and failed miserably so I think I would love to see a few more DVC resorts in the future. The California theme definitely sounds interesting if there is any truth to it.

thanks for posting the links, interestingpopcorn::, can't say the same for the theme:confused3.

imo, a FW area resort is more imminent choice, yet im not going to pooh-pooh CA hotel out of hand;)as i recall reading many of the same type of doubting sentiments here when the fence went up around the damaged north CR building a few years ago.
