As DVC employees and their work areas are easily identifiable as such, I am going to have to side with DVC, on this one.

IMO, it's very easy to get caught-up in the moment at places like WDW -- to the point where one may not have caught-on to the fact that they were dealing with DVC.

Sorry, I'm not buying this. This is the first post from the OP, and this is NOT the way DVC operates. You approach them, they don't approach you. I'm smelling a troll here, anyone else? DVC is not devious, they are in every way honest about their dealings. They just wouldn't do this.

I'm not buying this either. The troll smell is very strong. :snooty: (as close as I could find to a hold my nose smiley).

Plastering billboards from WDW to New York and tricking guests is not marketing!

I hate to break the news to you, but DVC is most definitely the future of the ever-competitve lodging situation at WDW.

Why else do you think POP hasn't been finished...and the fact that they are allowing more non-Disney hotels to be built on property?

No news there. :confused3

Lets try and focus on the fact that DVC would never have a sales tactic such as this OP is claiming. Notice he/she hasn't come back and answered about the "salesperson" having a DVC name tag on? And to the OP, what is the exact date and time this happened, so we can call and check their records.

I agree. I'm not buying this story, as I've never heard of DVC operating this way. The whole story sounds "fishy" to me. Anyone else heard of this taking place?

Well, IMHO the folks at DVC do a fantastic job, and I can't imagine anyone of them stooping to those tactics. However, there is always a first time...

Me personally, I would have been more than happy to sit in on the "show" and get more fast pass tickets. Saves you from standing in line on a hot sunny day. Instead, you're inside a nice comfy place being shown the lovely DVC properties. Win-win situation.

IWhat's next? Porn Slappers at DTD? They gotta eat too!
:lmao: When I read that comment I had this image in my mind of a bunch of people in their DVC polo shirts out in Vegas learning from the "pros" how to get innocent passersby to accept marketing material being thrust at them as they walk by. I could just picture them holding a stack of little cards with DVC info on them, learning how to do the "slap". :rotfl2:

I don't know what a "troll" is but I agree, this sounds very suspicious. DVC cast members don't step past the kiosk in the parks/inside the hotel, let alone approach someone at a resort bus stop. The only time I've even seen a cast member waiting at a resort bus stop was at OKW, and the CM didn't say anything, and appeared to be on her way home. If this is some random tactic that DVC is starting to do, then I would have asked what kind of show was it since "show" is a very vague term at Disney.

I've never had anything like this from DVC happen on (or off) Disney property. Heck, I had to contact THEM to buy in.

If this did happen, I probably wouldn't have been happy about it either, but we don't usually agree to this type of thing when traveling elsewhere. The red flags start to flutter.

I'm really hoping DVC has NOT started using this approach on site. It may not be illegal, but for DVC, it would be pretty tacky. At least in my book.

DisFlan

Whew! I'm glad someone said this before I did. It sounded suspect when I read it, and then one and only one post? Not buying it.

It sounded fishy to me, too. That's why one of the first posts in the thread was me asking about DVC clothing or name tags (to which I've gotten no response from the OP). It's my experience that the DVC sales people are always well marked. You'd have to be blind not to know they were connected with DVC.

OP joined today. The whole thing just doesn't sound like Disney. They aren't that careless with their image.

I am going to raise the "I dont think so" flag until there is other evidence presented. Sorry, but this is not the way that DVC does things and if it did something like this, I would bet there was full disclosure beforehand. Now, whether or not that disclosure was accepted is another story.

Did they describe it like a Disney show of some sort? Like entertainment? That's where I am stuck trying to figure it out. DVC was the opposite of "dirty" when I inquired about it, and hence a part of the reason I decided it was a good fit for our family. It does not sound like their style. I like to stop at the DVC booths at the parks, resorts, etc...and chat with the CMs sometimes, but they have never approached me first.

If this is something new for DVC, it's not a good turn, but I like to ask questions so did you inquire about what you were going to see before giving out the personal info?

Not only that but I most certainly would have asked what kind of show? Usually, when someone wants to give you something out of the blue there are strings attached. Were you the only one's on the bus? If not, you expect me to believe that out of a whole bus load of people not one asked, hey what kind of a show is it?

Very Odd! By the way, April Fools was yesterday.

I hope this was a made up story b/c I think it tarnishes DVC's reputation. It doesn't sound like a tactic they would do and certainly I have never heard of it being done before.

I think this thread should have been left on the resorts board.

It's safe to say they would not be recruiting at DVC resorts but at the other resorts. Maybe we need input from those that stay at the Disney resorts (non DVC) about whether this is happening or not.

You could not have told me that DVC would keep us on the ship for 2 hours before it happened to me either.;)

Not only does the "sales tactic" sound made-up - but DVC does its sales presentations at SSR. As far as I know, there is no "back room at Tony's" where rouge 1-hour VIP sales presentations take place. :rotfl: That would just be too weird.

I seriously doubt the existence of a secret DVC mafia. :cool2: :rotfl:
