Disney Vacation Club Annual Association Meeting

Buried on the dvcmember.com site under Member Special Events is an announcement for the annual meeting.

"A single 2008 condominium association meeting for all Disney Vacation Club Resorts has been currently scheduled to take place on Dec. 9 at the Walt Disney World® Resort. Continue to check www.dvcmember.com for more details, including meeting location, and final confirmation of the date and time."

Has anyone here gone to one? And what sort of things do they discuss. I think I've read here somewhere that we can just listen but not participate? We would love to attend, but the statement about "final confirmation of the date and time" makes me reluctant to make any plans just yet!

I haven't gone to the combined meetings, which started last year, but have been to the meeting when they were help for each individual resort.

The "legal" meeting is scripted and does not allow for interruptions or explanations. After the legally required meeting, there is an "unofficial" meeting where they will update the audience on planned changes, if any, to the resorts (like they announced the pool slide was to be added at OKW), give some basic explanations of the legal portion of the meeting and take some questions from the members in attendance.

It is interesting to attend the meetings, but we members actually can't vote on anything.

December, 2007 was the first for the combined Annual Meeting as previously, each resort held it's own meeting (although the content of each meeting was remarkably similar).

The meeting itself is comprised of 3 sections - the DVD Board of Director's Meeting, the DVC Member's Association Meeting and the General Session (where comments/questions are invited from those in attendance).

During the first 2 meetings there is no opportunity for input or voting my the general membership. They are conducted by Jim Lewis and the board is comprised of Disney staff. The Member's Association meeting is conducted by the same group, as voting representatives for the members of each "unit" at their respective resort.

I have been a a number of these meeting over the years. Here is my report from last year's Annual Meeting.

I would encourage any members who will be in the area to attend the meeting, but would not make a special trip just to attend.
