Disney VACATION/BIRTHDAY PARTY DILEMMA wwyd??? SOS

Haven't read all the posts but I say...

Don't let her go. Tell her you will take her & the other girl to CC (if she wants to go) when you return from Disney.

My DS7 came down with pneumonia 2.5 weeks before our 9 day Disney trip this past January. When he finally recovered, I wouldn't even let him go to 1 swim team practice...I was so afraid of a relapse!

Stay healthy....have fun!!

Yay!! I did it - I RSVPed and it was just an answering machine. :) I just said that she couldn't come as we had other plans that day & thanks for the invitation. I also suggested getting the girls together for a playdate so mine could give her a bday gift. I told my daughter the whole thing just now - after the fact- and she is absolutely fine with it. Even she knows the hazzards of Chuck E. Cheeses. :rolleyes2

I agree that some of our nonDisneyloving friends may not get it!! That is kind of where I was coming from. :p

Thanks for the support that I am not being overly cautious. :thumbsup2

IMHO Chucky Cheese is disgusting. Have only been once with DD and DS, and my DD was climbing through the tunnel over our table and I hear her go "oh, gross, somebody threw up in here". I was sick to my stomach and of course we left immediately to go get sanitized in the bathroom and then home for baths. There were many kids climbing right over it and I told a worker there, but it took at least 10 min. before someone was up there to clean it. Nasty, nasty, nasty. I would not send my child to a bday party there.
BTW, the food is gross too.

I think that you made a wise decision and am glad that you fessed up to your DD. Kids talk, even in kindergarten, and its better that she hear about the party from you first. I wouldn't feel the least bit bad about declining the invite under the circumstances and would have probably actually just told the mom that you will be leaving for a family trip a few days later, that your DD always picks up a bug from CC, and that while you know she'd love to go you are paranoid and can't take the chance of having her pick something up that could ruin your trip. As you did I would also simply ask to arrange for a post-trip playdate. Most moms would totally understand your position.
