So if after 120 days I use my DVA to pay for my Disney Cruise, how long will it be before I get my bonus gift cards? Do I have to do anything special to recieve them? Or will they ship automatically after I make my cruise payment?

In addition, I should know the answer to this but I don't.....do the contributions to the DVA using your Disney Visa qualify for 0%? I am pretty sure they do not but I am just checking.

I'm not sure about the Disney Visa question, but you do need to go into your DVA and request your bonus separately. There is a link on the left side of the page that says something like "Request My Bonus". It will ask you to enter your travel date and then you can submit.

It doesn't count as travel for Disney visa so you will be charged your standard APR.
As for getting the cards, they will mail them to you a few weeks before your travel date. Just be sure to request them in enough time.

I am asking how long it takes from the time of request to receive the $20 per $1000 gift cards? 1 week? 6 weeks? Something in between? It has nothing to do with my travel date because the Cruise I am paying off is more than a year away. I want these $20 gift cards for another purpose.

Thanks for your help!

It has everything to do with the travel dates that you give them when you request your bonus. The GC will not be sent to you until a couple of weeks before that date, regardless of how early you make your request.

Wow I am just getting more confused. The trip I am using the funds in the vacation account for is in 2018. I want to use the $20 gift cards for something in March of 2017. So I guess I use that as a travel date, eventhough I am not traveling? It's just the date I want to use them. I just wanted to know if I would get them in time, like in less than 4 weeks.

I thought @Marionnette gave a pretty clear answer. Whichever date you inputted when you opened your account, your gift card will arrive within 2 weeks of that date. If you put that your vacation is March 15th of 2018, expect your gift card to arrive at the beginning of March of 2018.

Also, and while I haven't checked recently (so someone correct me if I'm wrong), the bonus gift cards are only for trips paid for by December 31st, 2017. I have not seen an extension of this date in YEARS. Not to say they won't but it hasn't been done yet. Using the DVA as a savings account for trips after that is still an option. They just haven't extended the dates for the bonus gift card. (I know this doesn't apply to OP because they already paid but thought I'd mention it)

You can always move up your trip date to get the bonus early. There isn't anything that ties the date in your DVA to an official reservation. We paid off enough of our room only reservation in August to qualify for an $80 bonus. Before requesting the bonus, I changed our January trip date to November and the gift cards were received in early October. We qualified for another $20 bonus in early January so I changed the trip date back to the end of January and they were mailed to us immediately.

If I say my travel date is in 1 week, will I receive the bonus gift cards in less than a week? how long does it take the bonus gift cards to arrive in the mail once requested.

This is the email I got when my latest bonus shipped in early January. I don't actually recall requesting the bonus (I thought it was automatic now but could be wrong). As you can see they say to allow up to 10 business days for delivery.

What is the Bonus Program?
You'll be eligible for a $20 Disney Gift Card for every $1000 you spend on qualified vacation purchases with your Disney Vacation Account prior to December 31, 2017 (date subject to extension), up to a total maximum of $500 in Disney Gift Card(s) per household. Your Disney Vacation Account must be active for a minimum of 120 days at the time of spending in order to receive this bonus. All accounts registered to the same address are considered part of the same household.

Qualified vacation purchases include vacation packages for the Walt Disney World Resort or the Disneyland Resort, theme park tickets, room stays, cruise fare, and vacations by Adventures By Disney. Purchases of Disney Gift Cards are not qualified vacation purchases for purposes of this Bonus Program.

Request your Disney Gift Card(s) 4 to 6 weeks in advance of your vacation date to allow time for delivery to your mailing address.

When can I request my bonus?
Once you are eligible for a bonus, you'll be able to request your bonus from the Disney Vacation Account website. Please make sure to request your bonus 4 to 6 weeks prior to the commencement of your vacation to allow time for delivery to your mailing address.

How can I request my bonus?
Sign in to the Disney Vacation Account website and select the Disney Vacation Account you have used to make your vacation purchases. Click on your Account Detail page then select "Request My Bonus" under "Manage Your Account." When requesting your bonus, you'll be asked to confirm your travel start date. Your bonus will be calculated and mailed to your home address approximately 4 to 6 weeks prior to that date so that we may send all eligible bonus funds on a single Disney Gift Card, for your convenience.

So it looks to be as soon as you have spent the required amount and it can take 4 to 6 weeks, but you have to request it.
