Hi wondered if anyone had upgraded their Disney ultimate tickets - 14 days to a premium non expiry ticket. I asked Disney if they could change my tickets included in package booked now before we go but they said this would be £50 ammendment fee.

Can this be done in Florida at the resort when we check in?

I'd always heard that UK media was non upgradeable?

Correct. No upgrades and they do expire at the end of the calendar year for which they were issued, or 14/21 days from the first day of use, whichever is the soonest. The UK tickets are structured completely differently to their US counterparts. If you want the options you refer to above, the only way to get them is to buy MYW tickets from a US source.

I upgraded my 14 day UK ultimate ticket last year to a DVC annual pass. As I was renewing my old annual pass with the ticket it did take quite a long time but I managed to get a 15 month pass for only an additional $40!

I took advice from others on this forum that the passes can be upgraded to non-expiring tickets but this must be done at the end of the trip once you have used all of your dining credits etc. and can only be done at Guest Services at Downtown Disney or at the parks, not at the resort.

APs are different though. Although you did do it the way you described it will be up to the OP to see whether this is actually cost effective. The AP itself will, as you say, only give you a maximum of 15 months whereas I thought the OP was looking for the indefinite no expiry added onto the 14/21 day tickets.

EDIT: If I am not making sense in here, it is because I just re read the OP again and see that he/she was talking of up[grading to a Premium Pass. Somehow I managed to miss those words three times .....

Thsi is interesting though - if new packages for this summer now give you a premium non expiry ticket, then you can upgrade to a AP for a further period of 15 months - and get your 2012 holiday covered for park entry as well? Or am I reading this incorrectly?

Yes - the ultimates can be upgraded to Premium APs although not all CMs seem to know how.

The 14 or 21 day ultimates can not have the non-expiry option. The 5 or 7 day premiums that Disney UK sell can be upgraded to non-expiry as they are essentially a MYW hopper with Water parks & more option.

The reason for the difference is the Ultimates give you unlimited access to all parks not the set number park days & admissions.

Other point to note it is only AP renewals up to 31 August 2010 the get the 15 months. First time purchases and renewals from 1 September will be 12 months.

thanks for all the answers - tried disney again to day and was able to alter my ultimes to premiums so will upgrade to non expiry when i get there - had to pay the ammendment fee but the tickets were cheaper so all in all cost 312 - not bad as tickets will now last the three trips - think its about £100 each to put to non expiration so thats fine

Were these part of the free dining package?

These tickets were part of the free dining package - think i overestimated the time I would spend in the disneyparks as booked direct with Disney last year for three weeks this august and then older sons dropped out and as didnt have uni to think about could then go in the october for a shorter time.

Have never had ultimate tickets before and dont know why I initially booked them *** we're not ones for spending each day in the parks or park hopping for that matter.

At least its sorted out

That's great, I may call them. We would like to take advantage of the OKW or SS villas next year with the free dining next year. But don't want tickets for the whole duration but are willing to upgrade to non expiry.

we paid $115 + tax to upgrade the 7 day UK premium to non expiry last October, but did not upgrade our premiums from free dining this year as will more than likely take up a few days of free dining again at OKW next August...

if you're going with the free dining offers each time, it's worth running the figures, since each time you have to buy another set of tickets, doesn't always make sense to upgrade.

Do you think it will be possible to upgrade the 14 days to non expiry as the offer at the moment is 14 days for the price of 7?

No sorry...as far as I'm aware ultimates can only be upgraded to annual passes and it's the premium that can be made non expiry.

Thank you, for clarifying. So if we were to purchase a 5 day premium can we upgrade to non expiry?.

We could use them on another trip as we also still have some days left over from 10 day tickets from a previous trip.

yes for sure, although it's very little more to buy the 7 day premium and then upgrade that to non expiry...around £75 incl tax per ticket...and then you'll have 7 park days with hopper and 7 and more days for the waterparks/Disneyquest.

The 7 day ticket will cost you $151.23 (inc tax) to upgrade to non-expiry and the 5 day will cost $101.18

You will need to factor this in to see if it is worth it and not buy it till you actually need to as if you don't use the ticket at all then you do not need to add the no expiry option.
