disney uk are offering old key west and sarataga spring for mod prices 2010

Another question...sorry!

I booked this last night for next August. I booked 7 nights at SSR but with 14 day ultimate tickets (we're planning to stay elsewhere for the rest of the time).

Are the tickets separate or part of the package? In other words, can we use them before arriving at SSR?

when i posted this i thought great, but spoke to dd 13, ds 15 and dh and they say they don't want to stay there:confused3. i explained that if we choose saratoga that we would have more room, have a balcony, be closer to dtd and that we would be on the table service dining plan. again a resounding no, we want to stay at por and we want the qsdp, they feel that they would be to far from the parks and they do not want to plan their holiday around the table service restaurants :confused3 so how long does it take to get to the parks from saratoga springs using disney transportation.

I bet VH won't pass the discount on, which is a real shame, as I need to book with them. (tesco deals).

Some of the deals Disney are doing at the moment, are really great.

Hi Heather,

I think I have *seen* you over on PTS!

It is worth pricing up Virgin with the cheapest of the cheap accommodation and not using it if you are using deals to pay for a large chunk of your holiday. This summer we booked to stay at the cheapest hotel Virgin could do and paid in full with deals. Then I have booked accommodation in cash. It isn't then a completely free holiday but our flights are paid for by Mr T and I got the OKW offer for the first 5 nights of our holiday and an offsite villa for the last five nights (we already had a cruise booked in the middle)

Good luck with your holiday planning,
Mel

Andrea,
I think I know where they're coming from. We're DVC members, and the extra space is great - but my kids still prefer POR. We stayed at Old Key West last year, and took the dining plan, but tbh it was a real pain having to work around adr's. Somedays it would have been nice to be spontaneous. Also you have to remember that the tip of 18.5% is automatically added, and we paid that with our key to the world card, which sometimes amounted to quite a lot for 5 of us in some of the dearer places, mind you our dining wasnt free so it was added on top of what we paid- not that I grudge a tip but you do feel you have to give that amount each time regardless. This year were staying DVC at Beach Club Villas, no dining plan, but we've booked next year to stay at POFQ(couldn't get Riverside) as we've not enough DVC points, with free quick service dining as I feel it suits my family better, an since it's free I wont mind paying for the odd special meal if the fancy takes us.

The tip should not be automatically included if only 5 of you. Its 18% for parties of 6 or more.

Q. Are gratuities included?
A. No, gratuities are not included unless otherwise indicated. An 18% gratuity will be added automatically for parties of 6 or more.

If i remember correctly the 'bill' comes over showing what you are due (if you have bought cocktails or wine or anything extra, or showing a zero balance if you have no extras, but I'm sure it said to sign for their recommended gratuity, which if your like me you dont like to be mean and say no , and also it's easier for you to pay it by card if you have ordered wine, so in that respect no its not automatically paid for but you do feel you have to pay that amount - well I did anyway. I'm not saying that's bad, just that it's not something I had really taken into account, as we did the dining plan the year before and gratuities were automatically added.

Bottom of the bill is a couple of calculations with recomended gratuity, something like 18% and 20%. Yes its there to advise/help/remind you about tipping but no way do I feel obliged to do it. If I have had a table service meal with very good service then I would tip what they recommend(or more) if the service is not as good as I expect I tip lower or for a buffet I don't tip a % I tip $2-3pp sometimes more, again totally depends on service.
No idea with alcohol, don't drink with meals but I think I read that includes 15% automatically.

Can anyone help with my question??

So we've booked 7 nights but the 14 day tickets...what happens when we check-out? Do we just keep our room keys and use them to get into the parks or are the tickets all separate??

Thanks!! :thumbsup2

Sorry it took so long to respond, just been going thru my emails, I am sure I have the reply from guest services somewhere to this question but can't find.

You can't use park tickets before checking into your resort. I wanted to do offsite then finish off in a Disney resort, tehy said it wasn't possible. Unless anythings changed.

Thanks so much Wayne. We'll make sure we do SSR first then. Do you know if they put the tickets on they keys or are they separate? If separate, do we collect when we arrive or are they posted out? Sorry for all the questions, but we've only ever done "room only" before. Appreciate your help :goodvibes

Hi, also interested in the answer to this? Assuming your room key is also your park ticket, does the room key remain valid for park entry for the week after checking out of the hotel?

Thanks

DDP will expire at midnight you check out but tickets are still valid until they expire. We have bought 21 day tix will use until we check out, then go on cruise for 7 days and come back and use 2 more days at the parks.

Already done that, it's still 3000.00 for the cheapest accomodation next August. I take great exception that Virgin will be saving a bucket full of cash and then not passing it on it's customers. I have e-mailed them to let them know how upset I am and that I will be booking with Disney UK.;)

I will probably blow all of my deals and stay at the beach club. Waiting to see what LA is like first as we may want to go back there;)

I am frightened to ask this... but is this offer likely to expire any time soon? I know it says December but it almost seems too good to be true.

(I can't book yet till I find which days the Belfast flights will run next year!!! Biting my nails!!!)

Last year (for this year)the offers were supposed to be available until Nov, then they extended it until Dec. We thought that was it then they re-released the deal and its still available now for this year.
Now they have released next year when we were not expecting it and the great OKW/SSR deal is back again.
Personally I am waiting until I have been this August, tried OKW and DDP, 1st time for both. If we like it and the offer is still on I might book next year, not rushing in. I am still not convinced we will like either, we like to stay and eat offsite.

Very reassuring.

We like the perks of offsite too but have never stayed "in the magic". And those deals really seem to good to miss. I will be interested to hear what you think.

We are doing the same. Really we weren't planning on returning until 2011 but if we like OKW and the DDP then I might see what flights are like in the autumn and book again if the offer is still on.
