I need this tiny detail for a story I am writing:

How many grooms has the bride decapitated in WDW's Haunted Mansion?

ok I didn't find the answer but check this fact out!!!

Haunted Mansion Urban Legend
The Disneyland version of "The Haunted Mansion" has bullet holes from a shooting that occured in the 1970s True
During the 1970s at Disneyland a guest brought a gun into "The Haunted Mansion" attraction, and started shooting holes in the large pane of glass used in the ballroom scene. Since the glass was too large to move, Disney just taped up the bullet holes. You can still see some of the spider-webbed glass caused by the bullets to this day!

Yes, that is very creepy. Why would someone bring a gun into the Haunted Mansion and shoot at glass? Is there more to this story?

I am still working on my trip report, Tinkbutt. It is 72 pages long so far, and I think it is pretty good. I have had a number of people--here at home--read it that aren't Disney fans. They still really like it and think I should try to get it published. So I might try that . . . if I ever finish writing it. I am nearly done. Right now I am writing about the our trip through the Haunted Mansion on the day before we check-out and leave. I need this little detail so that my story can be accuate.

Anyone else that can help? And--of course--any other random Disney trivia is fun too . . . but I do need that groom detail.

I meant "accurate." Sheesh! Of all the words to spell incorrectly. . .

For some reason I want to say there are four grooms, can anyone confirm this?

I beleive it's 6 grooms. Unless it's a trick question and some of them weren't decapitated.

There is no trick question. I am certain they were all decapitated. I am writing a trip report, and I am trying to make sure it is accurate. Can anyone confirm that there are six? I'll feel better if there is a consensus.

I find there are too many different stories!!! if you google the story I found several different versions but none with any decapitated grooms!?

You have totally confused me? What story?

When you go through the Haunted Mansion in WDW there are many wedding portraits in the attic with lots of wedding "gifts". Each portrait shows the same bride but with a different groom. As you pass the portraits the groom's head disappears in the photo, leaving his body "headless." Then just before you leave the attic, you see the bride ghost, and she is holding an ax as she says things like, "'Till death do us part."

I am asking how many grooms she beheaded, which should be confirmed by the number of portraits that you pass on the ride.

Are there any cast members that work for the mansion that know how many wedding portraits are in the attic with the bride?

From Wiki:

The Attic
The attic is an irregularly-shaped room that the Doom buggies enter immediately after the ballroom scene. It features a collection of wedding gifts, personal items, mementos, and wedding portraits. In each portrait, a common bride (Constance Hatchaway) is featured with a different groom (Ambrose Harper, Frank Banks, Reginald Caine, The Marquis De Doom, and George Hightower), whose heads disappear to the accompaniment of a hatchet sound. Just before the Doom Buggies leave the attic, the same ghostly bride from the pictures is seen floating in the air, intoning wedding-related phrases. As she raises her arms, a hatchet appears in her hands.

BOO!

Whew! Thank you! I will continue with my trip report now, feeling much more confident in its accuracy.

I would have never thought to check Wikipedia.

wow totally read the post wrong and didn't realize you meant what is in the ride I thought you meant the story behind the haunted mansion. wow I need to read slower!

BTW I love your writing too and hope you do get published I would read anything you write!

Aww, Tinkbutt. That is so sweet! I'll be sure to hunt you down and let you know if it gets published. If it doesn't get published, I will definitely blog it somewhere because there is no way that I am putting this much time in it just to keep it to myself.

My aunt has experience in editing books for people before they get published, so she is going to work on this with me. This may be the real deal. It would be fun if it happens. And my DVC agent says that if I mail her a copy (she is really excited to read it), she promises to put it in the hands of the people who would decide whether Disney wants to publish it. So keep your eyes and ears open for the, hopefully, to-be-published TRUE CONFESSIONS OF A NEUROTIC, DISNEY MOM. You'll get bragging privileges, saying you were my very first Disboard buddy.

OK. But now you have me completely fascinated about the background story. I'll be googling that for the next hour or so.;)
