Disney Trip - 2005, 2006, or Heaven Forbid 2007?

What is the best age to take two young boys to Disney World?

  • Age 3 and Age 1

  • Age 3 1/2 and Age 1 1/2

  • Age 4 and Age 2

  • Age 4 1/2 and Age 2 1/2

  • Age 5 and Age 3 - P.S. Don't think we can wait that long for our first trip "home!"

Hello all,

We are planning our first trip "home" as DVC Members for either 2005, 2006, or heaven forbid 2007. Don't think we can wait that long... Anyway, my question to all you "Disney for Families" board frequentors is... What is a good age to take two young boys to Disney for the first time? Thanks for your help.

Char

I voted Age 3 & Age 1.

If you joined DVC, why wait so long to go?

Also, what will you do with the points you can't bank?

I don't know anything about DVC, but as far as ages go...go now! It will be great! We took my daughter at 6 months, 2 years, 3 years and she'll be almost 4 when we go in October. Each trip has been very special and most enjoyable. Go for it...you'll have a blast!!!

For me the "perfect" ages are 5 & 3 but if you have DVC I assume you plan to make annual or at at least bi-annual trips. It is not like you aren't planning on going back for 5 - 10 years. So go now and have fun. Then go back when they are 5 & 3, 7 & 5, 9 & 7 etc etc.

as soon as possible! What are you waiting for????

My thoughts exactly!!

I took DS#1 for his 1st b-day and it was the best trip I've ever taken anywhere! We went again when he was 15 months and again had a ball.

Now I have a DS#2. If he starts sleeping longer stretches soon, we will take both our DSs in Nov when they will be 4 months and 24 months old.

Isn't it great having boys ?? :earsboy:

Anytime before you have to pay admission ;) for the littlest one...LOL

Anytime would be fine...

We've gone with my girls at these ages:

almost 2, almost 4
almost 3, almost 5
3.5, 5.5
5, 7 (birthdays in WDW)
almost 6, almost 8
going this year for birthdays again 7, 9

Each trip has had great memories for their ages. The toughest one was the first because it was pre-DVC for us. It was shorter than our DVC trips have been since then and we didn't relax as much. DD18mos. got sick one day and we stayed in the room most of the day. Other than that it was great!

My kids are so excited about going in a few days. I don't know if they'll ever not want to go one year, but right now our plan is to use our points every year. :D

So - since you're DVC and you will most likely return often, I chose 3 and 1. If someone were asking that question for a "once in a lifetime trip", I would say wait until 5 and 7 or something.

we first took our DS when he was 10 months and he loved it - especially meeting characters. we took it slowly and allowed for plenty of down time. the DVC room will really help for meals etc. our next trip is planned for just before he turns three when number two should be six months or so.

Since you have DVC, I would go 2005, 2006, and 2007. Add some APs in there and you can go more!

Just go!

Is this a one choice multiple choice or are multiple answers allowed? We've taken a 1 year old. Their experience is just different and you have to work with their schedule a little bit more. Mine still enjoyed running around, seeing all the different sights, playing in the pool and just generally exploring. Sure, you could do that anywhere but the older ones (including you) can enjoy it.

Now if the question is when to take your only trip for awhile, I might wait for 2 and 4 years.

We took our boys at age 2 & 4. 4 yr old was good for most everything. 2 yr old was intimidated by almost everything. Even though that was the case, they had a great time and have never forgotten that trip.
We brought strollers (what a pain load/unload on the buses ea. day) so ended up renting a dbl each day. This gave 2 yr old a comfort zone and 4 yr old a place to climb into when tired.
Of course we had our 14 yr old, who had the best time of all.
On our nest trip they will be 7 & 9, 19 yr old will be at college. We are looking forward to riding those rides that they couldn't before.::yes::

I voted 3.5 & 1.5. I took DD Holly when she was 7 mos, and we are going next year when she will be 18 mos and I think she will enjoy it alot more (she did have fun though). Plus it would be nice to be able to get some pictures of her standing and posing with her sister. This past trip when I took her picture she spent most of her time in strollers or on the floor.
Now, if your baby can walk by 1, I would go then so that you save some money on tickets and have more to spend on the kids! ;)

Go every year if at all possible! While my kids are little, I'm maximizing points and staying in a studio. I love my AP and also use the AP rates to book some really great prices on non-DVC rooms on the weekends. :D
