Hi all

We're doing our first use of Disney transporation from the Hyatt at the Orlando Airport to the Port Canaveral dock and looking for some insight.

I'm getting conflicting stories on what you need to do.

We're flying in the night before the cruise and staying at the Hyatt.

I've read you drop your luggage off the night before, or that morning then get the bus. But I also read you take your luggage to the bus like you would any other bus.

I've called Disney and they weren't helpful honestly, the agent seemed to know less then the hotel person I spoke to.

Has anyone done this before and able to give me some info on the process? Mainly trying to understand:

1-Do we keep our luggage or turn it over to someone before boarding the bus?
2-Can we pick the time of our pick-up or do you just line up and wait?

Thanks in advance!

Expect no useful information from DCL before you get to the hotel.

During hotel check-in, ask for the information letter regarding the DCL bus.

The one-page letter should spell it out clearly.

There is a specified time to go to assembly area - based on Castaway Club status. That will be in letter.

We were instructed to leave our luggage inside the door of our room. Luggage tags attached. Others mentioned attaching your tip in some manner to the luggage for the porters.

As usual, keep passports and medicine with you in day bag.

We actually saw them collecting luggage as we headed to the bus. The bags were transported in a cargo / moving van.

They arrived in our room, just like when you hand them to porters at the terminal.

Make sure your Pick Up location says HYATT. You could also stay at the Hyatt and take the MCO AIRPORT as a pick up location which is down by baggage claim. In this case you would carry your own luggage from your room (or a different hotel) to the boarding area in the airport and they will load it on a transport vehicle to later be delivered to your cabin.

At the HYATT (as long as your pick up says HYATT) you leave your bags inside the door of your hotel room for pick up. I used washi tape to attach a $5 bill to my bag as a thank you.

I also always use AirTags in my luggage when I travel. The HYATT is a really nice hotel and the luggage service is very slick. But it is expensive.

auntlynne and girl of the south are correct.

I would just like to specify that the luggage tags you put on your luggage is mailed to you by Disney and you only put them on at the
hotel. You will probably receive them about 2 weeks before you sail. We have even received them only a week before sailing.
They are tags like the airlines put on your luggage with the destination only it is for Disney to get your luggage to the right room.

If you do not receive the luggage tags you will have to bring your luggage to the lobby with you.
Otherwise you do leave your luggage in your room.
As long as the Hyatt has you checked for the bus pickup, you shouldn't worry. You do want to double check at check in to make sure.

We put air tags in our luggage and on our last cruise on the Wish I checked where our luggage was and at 2:30pm it showed it was STILL at the Hyatt! It made us VERY nervous as to whether or not we were going to have luggage! We even contacted guest services
and they supposedly checked on our luggage. They even tried to claim that the air tags were not always accurate for location.
But yes, our luggage did arrive finally!

Thanks all! Great info and great community on these boards, always nice to see!

We have two tags that were mailed to us which works as only two suitcases. But we will have a carryon bag as well most likely. Do we take that with us on the bus or drop it off I wonder? Maybe that'll be explained in the letter.

If it's a carryon with electronics/medications/etc, I would just bring that on the bus and carry it on to the ship with you.

That kind of depends on what is in the carry-on and whether it is anything you will need prior to about 5pm. Checked luggage may not make it to your stateroom until 5pm -- often early, sometimes later. But basically plan that you won't have access to anything in checked luggage until late afternoon. As PP said -- medications, electronics, anything of value should always be in your carry-on; many also put bathing suits or even clothes for dinner in their carry-on to board a ship.

Double check your luggage tags that you received. A few times I swore I only received 2 luggage tags for 2 people but after rechecking twice....found another set stuck to the first set. There should be 2 luggage tags PER PERSON mailed to you. I always put the second luggage tag on my carry on in case it somehow get separated from me onboard. You will have your carry on with you until your room opens up between 1:30-2:00.

Good catch! It looked like just a sheet of two but yes, there was another set stuck tight against it.

Very helpful forums here! :)

We just got an email from them outlining what we need to do and everything. Gotta say, these guys are top of this stuff. One thing about Disney, they tend to be a well oiled machine when they can!
