Disney Transfers vs Happy Limo

We are arriving at 7:30pm the night before our June 21 Western Cruise. I was kind of thinking we would get to Port Canaveral and spend the night there.

Does Disney do transfers at that time? How do we book a Disney Transfer? Do we just get on the shuttle and pay then?

I've heard alot of good things about Happy Limo.

I was also thinking of renting a car at the airport and driving ourselves to save $$. Are there any car rental companies at Port Canaveral where we can drop the car off? Or can we rent one from Port Canaveral the day we disembark? Our flight doesn't leave until 5pm, and we wanted to check out Cocoa Beach and maybe the Space Center.

Thanks for any help!

We always use Happy Limo for our cruise transfers and get great service from them. But when we arrive the evening before, we prefer to stay near the airport and do the transfers in the morning after a good night's sleep (we can usually get the MCO Marriott for $25 to $28 via Priceline, and most of the hotels there have a free airport shuttle). Then Happy Limo picks us up in the morning. But if you decide to spend the night in Port Canaveral, that is certainly doable too. I don't think Disney offers night-before buses, so you must do a towncar or drive.

Thanks Barb! Do you know about car rentals in Port Canaveral? Can we drop it off there and rent one on our disembark day?

One time when we sailed from Port Canaveral (on another cruise line, not DCL) we came in early the day before we sailed and rented a car from Avis at the airport. There is an Avis office at the Radisson at Port Canaveral. There was no drop-off fee. It worked out well for us, we had a car to get around that evening and then in the morning we returned it. Both Avis and the Radisson (if you stay there) run shuttles to the port.

We booked a towncar to return to the airport. As a matter of fact we booked Happy Limo. And during the 2 hours that we waited past our scheduled pick-up time we saw the Avis bus many times and were sorry that we didn't do the rental car to return. We thought the towncar would be easier -- which I still think it is if they show up on time. The rental car can be less expensive, though, depending on how many in your party.

If you check mousesavers.com you can often find codes to use to get a good rate on Avis (and maybe the Radisson too). Also there is a Budget location a little further away than Avis. I believe they run a shuttle to the port too, but I don't have experiene with them.

KMC...
I dont know if I am reading your post wrong or what...but did Happy Limo show up on time for your pick up???

Thank you so much! KMC, that is exactly what I was trying to figure out. I will book my rental and hotel right away! Radisson seems to be the most convenient for those reasons of shuttle and location, and even more so that they have an avis counter right there! Woohoo!:Pinkbounc

DCL transfers from airport to port run only on the day of the cruise. If you want to add them, you can do so by calling DCL Reservations and add them to your trip. They cost $49/person round-trip from airport to port, so there are probably cheaper ways to go, especially if there are more than two people. You can also buy one-way transfers on the ship to get you back to the airport, but if your flight is not until 5:00pm, you probably don't want to go this route.

We use them for their convenience. We also arrive the night before, and usually stay in the Hyatt at MCO. It's right in the terminal, which again, is very convenient but more expensive, usually around $99/night. Check-in for the transfers is right in the Hyatt lobby.

It sounds to me like the Avis route would be best in the OP's case.
