Disney Transfers in San Juan

Hi everyone!

We booked pre-cruise hotel reservations through Disney in San Juan and have opted for the Disney transfers.

I’m wondering if anyone else who uses transfers through Disney knows if that will mean we will likely be at the port late. I know Disney transfers from WDW to Port Canaveral seem to run later than the early PATs and we alsways like to board as early as we can.

How will we know what time we are getting picked up etc? I assume at the airport we just look for a driver with a sign the way we would with private transfers at MCO?

Thanks!

We did it this past January. We were picked up around 10:30. We were able to go ahead of all the people who were in the long line to check their luggage. We were dropped right at Security. I know we were getting on the ship about 11:30

At the airport there was a Disney Cast Member with a sign. We checked in with him and waited for a few more people and then we were driven to our hotel. After we got our room there was a desk for Disney Cruiseline that we checked in with and they gave us the time to meet in the morning.

The only problem we had the entire time was the Marriott saying they didn't have room with 2 beds. I asked how 4 of us were supposed to sleep in one bed. As soon as we reminded them the room was pre-paid with Disney a room miraculously appeared.

Thanks so much - this is very helpful! I like knowing what to expect and not having (too many) surprises.

I called DCL directly. They told us at first there were none available and were put on a wait list. Then a few weeks later received a call and email informing us we were booked.

I initially called and was also told there was nothing available yet for 2019. That was about two months ago.

This weekend I used the live chat and was able to get a hotel booked, along with the transfers, through DCL. The hotel that DCL is partnering with is Marriott Stellaris. From what others have said, it sounds like it is on the pricier side and that there are some other accommodation options available that might be cheaper, but the hotel looks to be on a beautiful beach with some nice amenities.

I wish we were able to come in a day earlier to enjoy the hotel!

I’m guessing that’s because they don’t want to pay anyone to get your luggage a day earlier from the plane, or hire a driver for a small group. My parents need a full day of rest before I take them on a cruise otherwise they sleep away the first day.

The issue was not with Disney - the issue is that we are planning to fly with an airline that will allow us to maximize our loyalty points/companion vouchers and they only fly into PR on Saturdays and Sundays. So, our flight will get in Saturday at 2:54 in the afternoon, so I imagine it will be after 4:00 before we get to the hotel, which will really limit our ability to enjoy the beach. Hopefully the pool will still be open.

Oh I didn’t realize they were willing to pick people up as many days as they wanted before the cruise. Excellent advantage.

This will be our second stay at the Marriott Stellaris thru DCL and we really enjoyed this hotel. We have stated at the Caribe Hilton and the Sheraton Old San Juan on previous trips but think the Marriott is the nicest of them all. We loved Sheraton Old San Juan for its convenience when we wanted to sightsee in Old San Juan ..... great location. But this year when we are cruising, there is a festival in Old San Juan and we wanted a quieter location. You will not be disappointed in the Marriott Stellaris. Disney transfers were so convenient .... they pick up between 10 and 11 which gets you to the ship early.

How does DCL handle car seats when you book transfers through them? Do they transfer you on big buses like the Magical Express where you cannot have car seats?
