Hi,

We'll be staying four days at Animal Kingdom Lodge, then traveling to Port Canaveral for a non-disney (Carnival Dream) cruise. What are the best options to get to the port?

1. most affordabe
2. nicest ride

Any guidance would be appreciated

Nicest ride probably would be to hire a town car/limo/van to take you straight from the resort to the port, and then from the port to the airport after the cruise. If you have four or more people it's probably also the most cost effective. Resort-port-airport transfers in a town car will run about $220 plus tip. Cruise line transfers from airport-port-airport run about $75 per person.

If you have two people, cruise transfers probably would be less expensive, but you would have to take DME from AKL back to MCO and then get yourselves to where the cruise buses depart.

Another option would be to get a one-way car rental each way and I know people who have done it for far less than either of the above options. That obviously involves getting to the Swan/Dolphin or the CCC (or MCO) to get the car on the way, and some shuttling around at the port before and after the cruise. And it involves you driving yourselves around, which may or may not hold any appeal.

The cheapest and most comfortable way, since you are taking a non-Disney cruise would be to use a limo service. Actually, it might be a bit more expensive however that is the most direct and un-worrisome way.

For our last cruise we took the ME back to the airport and picked up a one-way rental car. Same back to the airport. $50 each way-- it worked for us esp. because we are a family of 5.

We booked Florida Tours today for transportation from MCO to Hotel at Port and returning from Port to MCO. It was 290.00 for 10 people. This was much more cost effective to us vs. renting a car for the day or week. If you rent by day you have to return and move luggage to shuttle to port. It seemed like a great deal to us. If anyone has a easier cost effective way to move about I would love to hear it!!:yay:
