Disney To Merge Hulu + Live TV With Fubo

How does it affect customers?
This is in the linked article...
With a combined 6.2 million North American subscribers between Fubo and Hulu + Live TV, the new vMVPD company is expected to enhance consumer choice through more flexible programming offerings, Disney and Fubo said in a joint release. Both services will continue to be available to consumers as separate offerings. Hulu + live TV will remain an entertainment focused cable replacement service, while Fubo will continue to be focused on sports and news, Gandler said, and the merger has the potential to create increasingly popular skinnier bundles in sports, news and entertainment bundles according to consumer needs.
But the "enhanced consumer choice" and "potential to create... skinnier bundles" is from press releases.

A "huge deal"? Not convinced.

Kind of view it as a cheap way for them to avoid continued litigation with Fubo and get whatever sports streaming ventures they have in mind off the ground. Easier and quicker to just pay a hundred million or so if the revenue stream is there.

Mergers always seems to be touted as providing some wonderful/amazing benefits for users, but usually that doesn't pan out and prices tend to rise where there is less competition for any product.

It's the live TV portion of Hulu that's being merged with Fubo, not the entirety of Hulu the streaming service. Fubo's core business is live programming.
