Mmmmmmmmmm, not sure what I think about this, but then again I thought Pirates of the Carribbean was going to be stupid, so what do I know? :confused3 Wasn't Battlestar Galactica that horrible "one of the worst movies ever" movie with John Travolta though?

Walt Disney Heads to the Magic Kingdom

Disney developing Magic Kingdom movie
Walt Disney Pictures is not just turning one theme park attraction into a movie for its next family outing. It's turning all of Disneyland into a fantastical new adventure with a big screen project entitled Magic Kingdom.

Battlestar Galactica creator Ronald D. Moore wrote the original script for Magic Kingdom based on his own pitch to Disney, with a story set entirely inside Disneyland. However, Disney is now looking to develop the movie even further, seeking out another writer for the project. Variety revealed that Disney is still looking to use their iconic theme park as the setting for this upcoming fantasy, which will be similar in tone to Night at the Museum.

Magic Kingdom will feature a number of Disney icons such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy, rather than just hint at them in the way that Enchanted did in 2007. The movie is said to be Disney's version of The Avengers, and will introduce the studio's lineup of classic characters to younger audiences who may not be familiar with them.

Magic Kingdom is in development .

Battlestar Galactica is the 1970's sci-fi TV show that was recently "rebooted" for the SciFi channel to great critical and popular acclaim. Easily one of the best TV shows of the decade, if not the last 20 or so years (or as long as I've been watching TV ). "So say we all!"

Battleship Earth is the horrible John Travolta movie based off a book by L. Ron Hubbard, I believe.

My mistake. I guess I should brush up on my Sci-Fi info! :teeth:

Oh, this sounds exciting! Even if it isn't great...I know I would love it! (Mind you, I'm one of the few that actually liked The Haunted Mansion :scared1: - even though I'm not a big fan of Eddie Murphy, so I really wished they had used someone else in that film). I like good movies, and I LOVE cheesy ones! :rotfl2:

And now that it is October, it is time for my all time favorite genre: made-for-tv Halloween movies! Disney Channel & ABC Family are always good for some poorly produced, over-acted movies about kids who find they have magical powers or a mysterious old lady who may be a witch....solid gold!

Ohh....I have to go home and set my DVR now! :rotfl:

Good, bad or indifferent....I would line up for this movie. Anything based on a Disney park or attraction I can't wait to see. I like to see all the references for Disney fanatics such as myself. Looking forward to hearing more.

Interesting...I would have thought that Disney would have made a Kingdom Keepers movie first though? Already a popular series of books with a great storyline, etc.

We'll have to wait and see!

Funny you should mention Kingdom Keepers, because the pitch sounded a lot like a Kingdom Keepers plot when "Night at the Museum" was mentioned.

I thought so too. Night at the Museum meets the Avengers does sound like Kingdom Keepers. Kingdom Keepers takes place in Walt Disney World though, but they could re-work for Disneyland.

That's what I thought too....I'm reading the third book now....I think they are great. I would love to see movies made out of them.

I'd like to see a movie more like "kingdom keepers" I think that would be a good MK film.

Nothing is sacred. Can't anything just exist anymore? Must there be needless synergy? There's nothing creative about this and it reeks of the bottom line. What's next, the San Angel Inn Movie? The Monorail Movie?

They didn't do too bad with Pirates. Haunted Masion the movie stunk though. Personally I was hoping for IASW the movie next. :rotfl:

Sure, but it's one thing to focus on a single story. How can you conceivably make a movie about an entire park without cheapening it or misrepresenting it?

I don't know, but I do think the Kingdom Keepers books could be turned into pretty good movies. I don't know if that is what they are thinking and they could completely screw it up, but the potential is there IMHO.

If not Kingdom Keepers, I loved Night at the Museum, the first one, and I can sort of see the same concept for a Magic Kingdom movie.

I'm holding out for TTA the movie, set in a world where competing factions fight over the name: TTA or the Peoplemover.

Full of non-stop action. A moving experience. Suitable for all ages. And no lines or waiting.
