Disney Store size differences

So by a small act of grace last week- I was able to buy two Olaf tshirts for my daughter and niece- who both normally would wear an 8. These were the yellow boy's tshirt that I got. I normally have to get a 10/12 in the girls tees because I find they run very small and shrink like crazy-and both girls are tall. I can't believe the size difference in the shirts!! The boys 10/12 is at least 2 full sizes bigger than the girls. Like a dress! I'm not returning them since I'll never get two more. I wish the store would make the girl's tees more true to size- doesn't seem fair!

I think boy clothes run a lot larger there than other brands. My boys usually wear a size or two smaller there than normal items.

Its frustratjng because at this my 7 year old will outgriw the girl's shirts well before she would elsewhere!

Disney store sizing is ridiculous (I need to size up 1 or 2 sizes in everything for my daughter), but I think its pretty common for boy stuff to run bigger.

Even with baby clothes (non-Disney brands), the gender neutral/boy stuff runs bigger then the girl stuff.

DD11 wears an XS adult tee and a boys 10/12 from the Disney Store. DS9 wears a 7/8. The kid sizes have been that way for a long time, but they recently revamped their women's shirts and they are much smaller than they used to be.

Now that you mention it I have noticed a difference in women's too. I ordered an XL recently for myself and could barely get it on, when I ordered it with the intention of being loose.

Too bad they don't make princess shirts in boy sizes! I like the cut off the sleeves better too- the cap type ones for the girls don't offer much sun protection.

Most of the women's and girls are "slim cut". Here's a story that shows how bad it is. When DD was just under 5, she fell in love with a women's Poly shirt at the resort and was begging for it. Knowing it should be WAY too big, I thought I would solve the problem by telling her she could try on the XS, and if it fit, I would buy it for her. Imagine my surprise when a not quite 5 year old FIT into a WOMEN'S XS!!! :scared1::scared1: It was obviously too long, but the shoulders and chest fit perfectly...so she got a new "nightgown". A 4 year old should not fit into a women's size- it's not like DD is huge either!

This is what I'm getting at basically.... My 7yo is very average size, she's taller than average, but her build should fit fine into age expected sizes! Next thing I know I'll be buying the XS ladies!

The benefit to that is they actually have the XS ladies Anna and Elsa shirt in stock!

I am usually buying for girls and find that things run small. I go up at least one size. It is a bit frustrating particularly when buying for out of state great niece who I don't see often.

Wow, my experience is the opposite. My son easily needs a size or two larger in Disney clothes. He's a 2T in everything but Disney even the 3T is tight and short on him.

Our first three trips to Disney (2003, 2005 and 2006) I happily bought myself a Disney XXXL teeshirt for myself. I have a fabulous long and baggy cerise tee with Belle on the front thumbing behind her saying "I'm with the Beast". Well, now the picture is all cracked through age - but it still fits me.

Now they're not only making them smaller, but they don't go up above a XXL in most shops. That is so unfair. Even in the men's sizes ...

Yeah, I hate the new slim cut for girls/women shirts. I complained to my local Disney store employee, and she agreed that the cut is to be more for juniors and are purposely made narrower. Why? I understand the need to appeal to the teen/tween girl, but most women do not have that figure and would like to wear a Disney shirt. Oh well, I will save my money and not buy any more shirts from the Disney Store. Dumb move.
