I am considering the purchase of some Disney Stock. I was told that stock holders were once given certain privileges (i.e. discounts to parks, etc). Is this true and if so is this still the case?

I am a stockholder, and I don't get anything special with that. I only have 50 shares, so maybe you have to have a certain level. We bought it for the kids to have something fun for their stock market life lesson from mom!

We also have Disney Stock and have never gotten any *perks* from being a stockholder.

If you go to Disney Land this year you will get a special stock holder certificate to celebrate the 50th. No other promos going on that i know of. :earboy2:

I have a lot of shares of Disney stock thanks to a couple of splits the last 20 years. Once we had the opportunity to buy a Disney cell for $175. Recently, we had the op to get a Disney Visa and a WATCH....I signed up and got my Disney Visa but NO WATCH.

So, yep, the freebees are few and far, tho the stock certificates are decorated pretty nicely! LOL

I'm sorry you didn't get your watch. I was lucky enough to get mine, and it really is quite nice. I don't wear it though it's in my very large collectible box.

No perks here, either. I have, I think, about 75 shares of stock (thanks to the 3 for 1 split back in the early 90's). I am a former disney store cast member, so I had 10% of my pay deducted each week and it automatically went to stock purchase. The horrible part is when you are a cast member, you don't even get a stock certificate!! You can always buy one, though. So my son, who got one share for his christening has a certificate, but I don't!!! :confused3

What is the best place to buy Disney stock? I used to have some years ago but had to sell it. (long story). At the time I used a broker but I don't want to have to pay such a large fee if I am buying one share ata time. My daughter got a share for her 1st birthday from a friend and it came form oneshare.com. It is a beautiful certificate with her name on it. They charge a fortune in fees. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! :earsgirl:

My husband used sharebuilder.com for buying his shares/stocks at one point...but he did not get a certificate. Some of the online places do not automaticlly give these things out anymore. I think he can get one if he asks (but he has never gotten around to it) I hate too, that they are trying to phase out the annual reports, by trying to get you to view them online. He has an option that he can still have them sent, so I made him check that! I love finding out what these companies have planned.

Years ago we did, we had a special card that stated we were stockholders. About 6 years ago, I presented it at the disney store and was told I could use it one last time and then they destroyed it.

There were special mailing for specific rates.

I haven't received anything new for a few years.
