We are trying to decided between the Hilton Lake Buena Vista or the Doubletree in Disney Springs area. This will be the first time staying off site. Traveling July 2021, we will have 4 days of basic park tix, and are planning one park per day. We would spend our non-park time at Disney Springs or hanging at the hotel pool. We will not be renting a vehicle. Those that have stayed there (recently is a plus) can you help us decide which is your preference. There will be myself, DH, DD (26), DS (17), DS (14)

Doubletree is nice because of the suites, BUT I would highly recommend one of the two Hiltons because they are within easy walking distance of Disney Springs, which is very nice if you don't have a vehicle. All things being equal I'd choose Buena Vista Palace over Hilton LBV because it is an easier walk. There are other options (Uber, etc.) but nothing beats being able to walk across the street to Disney Springs.

We are staying at Buena Vista Palace for a night specifically to enjoy the walk over to Disney Springs.

I concur! It is very nice to be able to have an adult beverage or 3 and just walk home! My searches often start at DS, we love staying at SSR for the proximity.

Are you planning on getting 1 room? You have almost 4 adults and 1 teen... that's a LOT of people in a hotel room with one toilet... :-). Suites at the Hilton are almost 2x what you could get a 2br at Doubletree. Just a thought. Is there a shuttle currently running to DS?

Heck, you can probably find a deal at the Hyatt and get 2 rooms for the price of one at the Hilton!

Have fun.

DH an I stayed at the Doubletree Dec 2020. Our first time. It was very nice. We did rent a car. It was a very easy drive to everything but it would be a long walk to Disney Springs. When we booked it we thought it was closer so we could walk but we decided it was to far and drove.

Thank you for the responses - we really want to be in walking distance of Disney Springs, so Hyatt is not an option for us. Price is a factor - however not unwilling to pay more, just wondering how much more being closer is worth. DBLtree is cheapest - for $640 more we can stay at HLBV and for $1240 more than the DBLtree we can stay at HBV Palace. (not sure it's worth more than $1000)
all are one bathroom, but it looks as though the HLBV has two sink/mirrored vanity areas, which seems helpful

Hilton Buena Vista Palace is our favorite- my family has stayed them all! It's great walking distance to Disney Springs. However, the Lake Buena Vista is very nice too! I believe the rooms were just renovated there (I wasn't there for that trip). It's still a quick walk to Disney Springs. The Doubletree I want to say was a good 20 minute walk from the Springs bridge. It really seemed long at the end of the night when our feet were tired. I'm not sure if they've been renovated since we stayed a few years ago, but the beds were the worst I've experienced at any hotel. My back hurt the entire long weekend we stayed there! The extra room was nice (we had a 2 bedroom suite for 5 of us), but we haven't gone back. Instead we've been doing 2 rooms at the other Hiltons or have gotten great deals at the Dolphin.

We stayed at HLBV over Christmas 2019 and loved it! The resort fee is a bit much (I think it's stupid that any of them charge resort fees) but we got a ton of coupons for free bottles of water and free Starbuck's coffee from the convenience store in the lobby. I didn't think we'd use them, but it was easy to run down and grab coffee while DH was in the shower in the morning, grab water on our way to the bus stop, etc.Housekeeping was great, the room was very clean and spacious (granted there was only 2 of us), friendly staff, loved having a bar in the lobby, etc. It's also not a very long walk to the Springs. We timed it, from our room (which was right next to the elevator) to Earl of Sandwich was 8 minutes... and my top speed is "stroll!"

Just curious if you checked out the holiday Inn? We’ve stayed at both Hilton and holiday inn...literally a walk away from each other, and although the holiday inn is a tad further we prefer it because they have balconies! We got adjoining balcony rooms for us and our teens and worked out great! Watched fireworks, can see Disney springs lit up as well as pool area, which we prefer there as well! Have a great trip!

I prefer Buena Vista Palace, but I don't think I would pay that much more - yipes! For the price difference, you can Uber to Disney Springs frequently and still save money. I agree with the poster above that the Holiday Inn is slightly further but walkable; often it is reasonably priced, so maybe take a look.

Hilton Lake Buena Vista has tiny squishy rooms with low ceilings. (maybe the smallest rooms I have ever seen for a Hilton brand)
Hilton Lake Buena Vista Palace has big rooms. But more expensive.
Double Tree has huge suites.

Double Tree is only a 15 minute walk from Disney Springs.
I believe there is also a shuttle bus included with the resort fee that goes to Disney Springs.
You can also purchase a Lynx Bus 50 ticket on your phone. ($4.50 for a day pass, $16 for a week pass)
There is a bus stop right in front of the Double Tree and the Lynx Bus comes every 30 minutes from 5 am to midnight.
The 50 Bus makes stops at Disney Springs and also the Disney Transportation Center so gives you more options than just the resort shuttle bus, not to mention running later.
The other advantage of the Lynx 50 Bus is it always runs on time and you just look at your timetable for the major stops like Disney Springs and DTTC

Double Tree is also a five minute walk to the Crossroad shopping center that has every fast food and restaurant option at normal prices (as opposed to jacked up Disney Springs/Disney prices)

Thanks so much for the Holiday Inn suggestion - we decided to get two rooms at the Holiday Inn, hopefully they will be adjoining. Honestly I am very excited to try something new and the Holiday Inn has very highly rated reviews

The Holiday Inn name comes from the Bing Crosby Holiday Inn movie.
