Disney Springs High Line

I was under impression that the "High Line" at Disney Springs was going to be for aesthetics only, and perhaps to give the area below some much needed shade. However, this picture seems to indicate that it may be used as some sort of elevated pathway? Can anyone confirm or deny this?

When it is completed, some parts of it will also provide tables and additional seating for those wishing to climb the stairs.

There will be seating areas on the upper deck. Other sites report that a portion of the High Line has already been landscaped, upper and lower. There is also an elevator on at least one section that shows in project renderings.

That single piece in that photo is strictly just there that will not have seating. The section down the way a little bit will have the elevator and seating you discussed.

This is intended to be a re-creation of popular parks in large cities where elevated railways were turned into parks (and long walks) creating nice space without traffic. New York City and Paris both have great versions of this kind of renewal.

It's amusing to build a "new" one though.... but will be a welcome space to escape and relax above the crowds at "Confusing Springs*."

*That's for all the people who won't be able to tell Disney Springs apart from Saratoga Springs, and the bus drivers who are still trying to keep guests straight on Fort Wilderness vs. Wilderness Lodge.

I think Fort Wilderness vs Wilderness Lodge is much more confusing than Disney Springs and Saratoga Springs, but it is odd that they chose a name so close to the resort across the lake. I wonder if they'll eventually change Sartatoga Springs name. Saratoga Resort at Disney Springs, perhaps?

I personally do not find the name all that confusing. If they've made it to Disney World as opposed to Disney Land, I think they'll be able to negotiate their way over to Disney Springs. :)

I really dont think the theme works. If they had longer strips of the high line it might look more realistic but with little bits dotted around it just seems odd.

Also the train line turn table is in a curious place, the tracks do not point in a direction that could ever have conceivably had a rail track there in years gone by.

I agree with ParrotBill that it is "amusing" that they are building a "new" highline; I had to wrap my head around that one.

But I do LOVE the real high line in NYC; it's one of my favorite places I've ever been. I hope they do it justice with this recreation and not just have it as an elevated walkway with a few tables.
