Disney sponsored tours

I know when you book a package on the website you can book tours to other parks and places along with the package. If I am staying at a Disney hotel but not buying a package can I book those tours? Specifically I am asking about the LA tour. We will be in San Diego for a convention and I am hoping to come up to DL for a few days after. Since Dh has never been to CA, I was hoping to give him a little crash course of SoCal. We dont really want to rent a car, so I would like to spend a few hours with the disney sponsored tour group to show him the touristy parts of LA.

if so, can I just book them at the front desk after we arrive? DO they tend to sell out on a saturday?

The tours that are offered with the packages are not run by Disney. They are run by Gray Line and anyone can book them independantly. Here is a link to their website.
