My better hakf wants to get some spa treatments done when we are on holiday.

Im assuming that as we are staying on disney property we can make use of the facilities at all the hotels(swimming pools apart ive heard)?

Are the spa treatments worth the money? Im going in 3 weeks, is that even long enough to make a reservation, or are they not needed?

There are two spas, one at SSR and one at GF.

I would recommend making an appointment for any treatment as I wouldn't have thought you would be able to guarantee anything on a walk up basis. The two spas are run by an outside company but I cannot remember what they are called. I think there is a link from the Disney website to theie website which has full spa menus with details of all treatments and costs.

I had a treatment last year at SSR for my birthday. My DH called them to book a few weeks in advance I think. If you have a treatment you also get use of the jacuzzi and lounge area included, but as I was on my own I didn't bother - these are single sex as they are in the changing room areas.

I actually prefer the Mandara Spa at the Dolphin - here's a link...

The one at Animal Kingdom isn't really a spa in the same way as the GF and SS, more a work out room and they are able to pre arrange certain treatments / massages for you.

Still nice but not quite in the same league as the 2 others.

You Made Me Go And Look At The Gf Spa:lmao: :lmao: & Now I Will Be Booking Either The Citrus Zest Signature Collection Package Or The Relaxed Yet Package:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Thanks:lmao: :lmao:

They have rooms attached to the gym's. I would say the main difference is the setting. The treatment would be the same in either you just don't get the experience of the dedicated spa areas.

If you look on the web site it shows GF & SS as Spa's and the others as Resort Massage & Fitness Centres.

If your looking for a good massage then they are great, my DH had one the day after we arrived last Dec. But if you are looking for a spa experience then they won't live up to it.

We also did a spa day at the GF (about 6 hours) with lots of different treatments and time in between to relax in the lounge and make use of the hot tubs, sauna, stream rooms etc. Pricey, but we felt totally pampered and relaxed when we left.

Please don't let me put you off, I just know I would have been a little disappointed if I had gone expecting a spa, but what they do, they do well and the massages must be good as DH has asked me to book one at the YC in August which has the same sort of set up as the AKL :thumbsup2

Has anyone had one of the mother to be massages? I'm thinking about doing this on my wedding anniversary - I will be well into my 2nd trimester by then.

I have been to both the GS spa and the SSR one and prefer the SSR Spa. It is beautiful.

I actually had the Mommy and Daughter pedicures at SSR. My four year old loved the experience and I can highly recommend it.

Does anyone have any photos of the spas at GF and SSR? When we were planning for last August, we ended up booking at the Mandara Spa (at the Dolphin) because it was the only one we could get a feel for ahead of the event (there are some great photos and 360s via the link Karen provided). Despite copious internet searching and requests for photos on various forums, the only ones we could find of the GF and SSR spas made them both look a tad functional/clinical - I like a bit of luxury with my spa experience. :)

The Mandara Spa was gorgeous, btw and we ended up going back there in January. I keep meaning to look around the spa at SSR during our stays, but never seem to get around to it. Maybe I'll make it in November.

During my research, the spa which seemed to receive the best reviews was the Canyon Ranch at Gaylord Palms. I know that Canyon Ranch is world renowned, so there's good reason to believe that their spa at GP should be good. Again, though, I couldn't find any photos. :confused3

I'd say that the best spa I've visited in the Orlando area is probably the standalone offering at the Ritz-Carlton. It's almost a resort in itself and even has its own pool reserved exclusively for spa guests. The Mandara comes a very close second, though - I love the Balinese theming. They also have one at PBH. Has anyone tried it?

The Spa at Saratoga has been in the Top 5 Spas in US in Conde Naste.

i've been at the SSR, the GF and the Canyon Ranch spa at the gaylord palms..

they're all nice, but of the 3 i much prefer the spa at the GF....much smaller and more intimate...

I spotted this when I was researching, Phil. The voting is based on 10 criteria and when you dig a bit deeper, you discover that Saratoga Springs owes it place mainly to voting in the Location and Ancillary Facilities categories and doesn't score so well in the Decor/Ambiance and Spa Facilities/Treatments areas. Unsurprisingly, it blew away the competition in the Location and Ancillary Facilities categories. The phrase "unfair advantage" springs to mind! :rotfl:

It's A Bit Off Topic But Anyone Looking For A Really Nice Spa In London Then Visit Urban Retreat In Harrods:) I Will Be Going Next Wk For A Creme De La Mer Ulimate Experience:) Love The Creme De La Mer Products And Must Say I'm Addicted To Them Now But Not The Price:rotfl:
