Hello Everyone!
Greetings from lovely Western NY.
Since a few of my Disboard friends have posts on here, I figured I'd create one too. So here is my story....
Once upon a time.... wait.... wrong story.
This September my family & I (Dad, Mama, Brother & 2 cousins) will be going to Disney to celebrate family, life, surviving & the magic that is Disney.
A little background on my family... My whole family are Disney lovers. The characters, the parks, the magic... all of it. Growing up, our family made the trip to Disney twice, the last trip being in 1993.
Two years (on my brother's birthday in November) ago we found out my mom had very rapidly growing form of breast cancer. She had several surgeries over the next few weeks including the days leading up to Christmas & a few days after Christmas.
As a Christmas gift my Dad gave our family a "guide" to Disney book to help us plan our dream vacation. He said that the cancer was a wake up call to get out & "make memories" with our family. He said some of the best memories he ever had with us were at Disney (including my parents honeymoon to Disney in September of 1977).
After the holidays, the surgeries, chemo and radiation took it's toll on my mom. She was physically beat and mentally worn out but never let it show. She stayed so strong through the whole thing and swore that good things would come of it. On days where she was exhausted, I would convince her to watch movies with me which introduced her to newer Disney movies (like Nemo & Monsters Inc) as well as the "classics" (like her favorite, Beauty & The Beast). We would watch movies all weekend and she would rest.
The cancer also took a toll on my parents financially making our dream trip unattainable. They had originally wanted to go for their 30th wedding anniversary but were unable afford the trip. They planned to save up money and go the following year but due to the cancer, it made it once again impossible to go.
My mother is since a cancer survivor thanks to all the wonderful doctors & nurses we met along the way. Her hair is finally growing back & she is getting back to being her normal energetic self.
Due to very fortunate circumstances, I was able to visit Disney twice last year with friends. When I came home from my trips to tell my parents how amazing Disney is, I could tell deep down it bothered them. I know they were happy I was able to have such incredible experiences but I know they would have loved to be with me. I think it hurt my Dad the most, knowing we couldn't afford it. His health isn't great either so this trip needs to be amazing for him too!
After coming home from my December trip, I of course wanted to plan another one. After talking to my brother & two cousins, we decided to surprise them both with a visit this year, paid in full. My brother & cousins have been putting away money each week and I got a second job to ensure that it is totally paid for. Plus this wonderful little site called Ebay which is making a major dent in our trip debt.
We plan on surprising them for Easter. So far we have about 1/2 the money and will (hopefully) have the rest ready by Easter. We can not wait to see the look on their faces, especially when we tell them that the flight, hotel, tickets & food is all paid for!
I wanted to submit my story because quite frankly... I am Disney.
I was born & raised with Disney movies. I believe in magic and the goodness in people around me. I believe in the values and beliefs of Disney. Despite the people around me trying to sour my take on life, Disney gives me hope. I believe in happily ever after and that all you need to get by in life is a lil faith, trust and pixie dust.
Most of all... I believe that dreams do come true. I know mine will in September.
P.S. Sorry for the extreme corniness of thread. I turn into a sap when I talk Disney.
Anywho... actual trip info....

"To Do" List
Over all I don't think I have ever been this excited in my life. My cousin & I talk just about every day because we can't contain it. Also because both of our brothers are just about sick of hearing us, ha ha.
I'll keep everyone updated on how our trips goes (I'm sure you all are hanging on the edges of your seats) and when we tell them I will post ASAP. Hopefully even have video!!!!

Stuff That Is DONE
- Dates are set... September 12-19th.
- Hotel is picked & confirmed... AKL with a Savannah view (yay!)
- Decided on getting park hopper passes & the Disney dining plan so they literally will have no worries when it comes to affording this trip.
"To Do" List
- We still need to book the flights (but are going to wait a few more weeks until they release more flights for that weekend
- Buy the park tickets (which I'm not worried about at all)
- Most important & my least favorite... paying for all of it. But we are doing good!
Over all I don't think I have ever been this excited in my life. My cousin & I talk just about every day because we can't contain it. Also because both of our brothers are just about sick of hearing us, ha ha.
