Disney rewards card / Tickets to Disney World

I hope I'm asking in the right place---i'm usually here about SR, QR, and CR. But here's my question:

I'm expecting my Disney rewards card soon (from the disney visa), and was wondering if I can use it towards tickets to Disney World. If so, is it better to buy them in advance at the Disney store or at the gate?

Yes, you can use it to purchase tickets and yes, I believe it is cheaper to buy them in advance rather than at the gate (at least it used to be, unless they've changed that).

When are you planning your trip for? The reason I ask, is that some package discounts that disney comes up with, you MUST buy tickets through them with the package in order to get the discount. If you aren't waiting for a package discount, it may be cheaper for you to order tickets through ticketmania or undercovertourist.

We are planning to go in August but I'm waiting to hear if disney is going to do the free dining plan again this year. If they do, I will book a package with tickets through disney. If they don't, I will be booking room only through disney and getting my tickets through a discount broker.

Yes, you can use them towards tickets. I believe that the ones at the Disney Store do still have the advanced ticket prices versus the gate price at WDW (it isn't much but I do believe there is a discount.)

I believe it was only $8 diffrence when I purchased mine. You can use your rewards card then use your Disney VISA to pay the balance. May as well earn some more points right???? I have used mine for tickets everytime I have gone since the program started.

Thank you guys very much! I still have a few tickets left over from last time (the kind that don't expire), but need to supplement with grown-up tickets. I appreciate your links, too. I didn't realize there were so many choices!
