Disney Rewards Card - Redeeming points to pay for vacation?

Has anyone used their reward points to help pay for their vacation package?

I was planning to order my redemption card, and then call to have the points applied to my vacation package. Has anyone done this?

Just looking for people's experiences!

Yep! We do it every September trip.
I do wait until the 45 day mark to transfer the points, however.
That way, just in case something happens and we have to cancel, I know I won't lose my points.
They will eventually expire once they go onto a rewards card.

Make sure you order your rewards card in time though.

It takes a little time to receive it in the mail once you place the order for it.

Then remember you must transfer at least 20 points the first time you use it.

I never reuse the rewards card because of the expiration date.

Each trip I get a new one to put my points on for that trip.

I think I usually order it about a month before my 45 day mark just to be sure it has time to arrive.

Okay, perfect. I just wrote my 45 days on the calendar, and then moved a month early to request my card.
