I have a Disney Rewards card for $15 and Disney rewards (on my statement) from Visa. As another poster put it, "I want to get the points out of Chase's hands". Can I put the 'rewards' onto a gift card? Do the gift cards expire, because I'm not going to Disney for a long time?
Also, how would I be able to add money to the gift card over time? Would I have to go to the Disney store and have them apply it?
Thanks for your help!!

I think that I have read that the Rewards you put on a rewards card expire at the end of the year you transfer them to the card. The rewards in your acccount do not expire for 5 years from the month they were earned in.

Hopefully someone will clafiry, I would like to know too; I am not going to WDW for over 2 years and had planned to leave the rewards in my account until I need them to pay for my trip.

Okay, a little clarification here. The points that are in your Chase Visa account expire 5 years after the month in which they were earned. It will tell you on your statement when your points will expire.

Rewards Dollars that have been transferred to a Rewards Card will expire when the card expires. A brand new Rewards Card will expire on Dec. 31 of the year AFTER the year when it was ordered. A Rewards Card that is ordered today will expire 12/31/2012. You can have two active Rewards Cards per account.

You can use the Rewards Dollars on your Rewards Card to order Disney Gift Cards. Disney Gift Cards never expire. Some people have also had luck using their Rewards Card to add money to an existing Disney Gift Card or to purchase Disney Gift Cards in a Disney Store. YMMV with that. Strictly speaking, you aren't supposed to be able to use the Rewards Dollars to get cash or its equivalent. If you want to get your Rewards Dollars out of Chase's hands, you will need to get them onto a Gift Card. Putting them on a Rewards Card doesn't do that.

I just successfully purchased $500 in Disney Gift Cards online using my Disney Rewards card. I plan on doing it again once we get some more Disney Rewards dollars earned. I like that the dollars are now "gift cards" which never expire and do not belong to Chase. :thumbsup2

Thank you for your help!!
I looked at the $15 card again and it's actually a gift card. Can I go to the Disney store and give them cash to be put on the gift card? Also, do you know if I could add funds to an existing gift card via online?
:thanks:
