Disney reward dollars question

I have reward dollars that I was going to use towards my package but I read somewhere that if you use your reward dollars and you have to cancel your trip you lose the reward dollars. On the credit card site it has this FAQ:

Q: If I return an item and have a credit issued to my Disney Rewards Visa Card,
will I lose the rewards I earned for that purchase?
A: Yes, your rewards account will be debited if a credit posts to your credit
card account.

It looks like you get the reward dollars back from this statement-is that what everyone else gets from this? I would use it for spending $ but I am on the dining plan and will have over $500 in reward dollars.

Thank you in advance for any replies.:goodvibes

Once you transfer the reward dollars to a rewards card, it is like a credit card with an expiration date. You have a yearish to use them before they expire. If you use them say to book your trip, then they are spent.

If something happened, would you actually cancel entirely or just re-schedule the trip?

I would never want to cancel the trip but we have a package and I'm traveling with my elderly parents and it is unpredictable. Even if I postponed I think they would have to cancel and reschedule which may put my reward dollars in jeopardy. My travel agent didn't know for sure and I am just looking to see if someone does.
