So me and my wife are thinking of getting an alaska airline credit card since it's one of the only airlines that does nonstop between us and Orlando. One of the perks is that we get free checked bags for the primary + 6 guests on the same airline reservation.

How does that work with resort airline check-in? I've heard people on Delta have no problem using their similar perk, but can't find any examples from other airlines

RAC doesn't take payment for bags. So if you have to pay, you are supposed to call the airline and take care of it yourself. Since you don't owe anything, you don't have to do anything.

Last time I had to pay for checked bags was 2013 though, so not sure if something has changed with RAC and checked bag fees.

I have had a United card for several years (and trips). Usually, I have been asked to show my cc at RAC.

I'm mosaic with jet blue and get 2 free bags.

I just tell them when I check in. I did notice them looking at a page with codes for free luggage they had available at the desk.

You can always pop over to RAC a morning and ask before your flight if needed. Since this is different than resort info I would NOT ask anybody else.

I’ve never been asked to pay or show proof of free bags. Just check at RAC and go.

I have every single time. Like PP said above, I've had to show RAC my credit card, or whatever the free bag comes from, as proof I get free bags. They never fail to ask

I think something has changed. Like you, I remembered having to take care of it prior to check in. On a return trip a few months back we had to check a 2nd bag and had to pay. I was able to do it all right at the RAC desk.

It’s been seamless for us. We check in online the day before and it’s all good. Even when then-husband had status with united and we were allowed 75lb bags, they knew that at rac. (We’ve never even gotten over 50 bc the bags we have just can’t hold that much, but the rac people knew what we could have).

Never had to show our United cc, we just tell them that we get free bags with status and it hasn't been an issue, we have the card on us though so if it ever comes up we will be ready.

We just used RAC on 8/24 and they charged us for our checked bags. It could not be charged to the room (and I’m not sure if they accept cash as we used a credit card and didn’t ask).

And on the flip side of the coin, we used RAC just last month and because I had used Delta Sky Miles CC to make the plane booking, we were not charged for our checked bags. It largely depends on your situation (CC used to make booking, also if you're in first class at least on Delta there is no charge for first checked bag.), and I strongly recommend asking at the counter the day before departure if in doubt, so you are prepared.
