Disney Reservation Center Outage Update

To prepare for the launch of the Magic Your Way product, the Disney Reservation Center (DRC) will undergo a system outage between Dec 31, 2004, and Jan. 1, 2005. During the outage, which begins at close of business Dec. 30, 2004, a downtime process will be implemented to allow reservations agents to continue to handle calls. Operating hours will be shortened, with DRC closing at 8 pm on Dec 31, 2004, and Jan. 1, 2005. Disney Reservation Center will begin taking Magic Your Way bookings at 7 am on Jan. 2, 2005.

I figured that they would have to shut down around this time anyways to get the new system online. If you think about it, Dec 31 and Jan 1 are big travel days anyways for New Years, so the loss of reservation revenue wont hit as hard anyways.

I will be up bright and early Jan 2nd to see what the new packages look like so I can decide if I want to go ahead with WDW or save my money and vacation time and got to Oahu in October. It is all going to depend on what the new packages end up costing for my solo trip and if they are as affordable as WDW claims they will be. If I have a choice of spending $2500-$3000 on a WDW package or $2500-$3000 on a vacation to Oahu, I think I would probably take the vacation to Oahu.
