Have any of you made some of Disney restaurants recipes at home? How did they compare?

I was looking at a recipe for Boma's butternut squash soup and the ingredients don't sound anything like what I'd expect the soup to taste like. It's a really sweet tasting soup, but it's got a lot of spices in it.

What have you tried?

I've made the squash soup and it tastes just like it did at Boma. boma's she crab soup and the flank steak marinade also came out well.

I make several Disney recipes fairly often with positive results.

I've made the Smoky Portabello Mushroom Soup and it was pretty darned close to how it tasted at Artist Point. Now, it didn't "look" as pretty, but it was still very good.

I've made the roasted fish with vegetables of the moment and lemon beurre blanc from Jiko. It was a lot of work, but it tasted just like the restaurant!

Also, I've made the recipes from the South Africa booth at the Food and Wine festival a few years ago--the durban chicken on a sugar cane skewer and the sweet potato fufu. Yum!

There are more I have made, but I would need to page through the cookbooks and pamphlets at home. In general, I have found the recipes in the food and wine booklets and the "more cooking with the Disney chefs" book to be quite good. I have another book, "cooking with mickey," I think, where the recipes don't seem to be as well tested.

The only recipe that I have tried is the Parmesan Potatoes from Chef Mickey's. I've never eaten them AT Chef Mickey's, so I have no idea if they taste the same or not, but I can tell you that they are awesome!!!

I want to try some of the other recipes!!

Where are you all getting your recipes from? I found a bunch on allearsnet, but it sounds like Liamsaunt is saying there are cookbooks out!

I saw some butternut squash at the store the other day, so maybe I'll pick some up. The recipe calls for a pound. A pound, how? A pound after it's been cut out, or a pound whole?

I tried the French Toast Loaf. It turned out pretty good, but not as good as the version you get on Main Street!

MushyMushy, yes, there are Disney Cookbooks available. I purchased volume one at the "USA" section of Epcot/World Showcase, and volume two in the bookstore in Downtown Disney.
