Disney Rant - why so long to book January of the next year?

I am (not) patiently waiting for packages to come out for January 2019. Why do they wait so long to release them? If I'd wanted to go December 2018, I would have been able to book a year and 1/2 ahead. Because I'm going in January I get 6 months.

I feel your pain! Anxiously waiting to book a March 2019 trip. I wish they would do a rolling calendar and allow bookings a year in advance.
