Has anyone tried catching the Disney Railroad from the New Orleans Train Station after seeing the early Fantasmic and staying there for the Fireworks show. I was wondering if the lines are really long or do people just exit the area in readiness for the second showing. I would love to catch the railroad all the way round to the front of the park but I don't want to wait for ages for the train.

Are you going soon?

I know this doesn't answer your question but...
Currently the train is down but is expected to be back by the end of October. However, the New Orleans/Frontierland train station has been closed due to the construction at the Haunted Mansion. There has been no date of when it is expected to return.

I would imagine that the train & this particular station would be crowded. There may also be a delay because if I am remembering correctly they stop the train during the fireworks and I am not certain of how long they take to start it up again.

Oh thanks for that I didn't realise they close it during fireworks. We are there the first week of December so I am hoping that it will be open by then. If so I do want to ride it at night past Its a Small World all lit up, maybe we'll go earlier in the evening before Fantasmic.

Lines for the train can be long in the evening. I have had to wait 2-3 trains a number of times in the evenings for trains. And that can honestly be at any station. I am not sure what time they are stopped for the fireworks, but I was waiting for fireworks by Small World one evening last winter and the cast member says, I think fireworks are cancelled even though nothing announced yet because she heard the train coming back out to the station. Crazy to think about, but she was totally right!
