Disney putting me up at The Yacht Club on trip I won

Update for all of my friends here. Well all of my confirmation is in from Disney. Yes, it is true, I was the grand prize winner of the Boscov's Thanksgiving Day parade held in Philadelphia.

A trip for a Magical Gathering. Wow I get the bring a total of 8 people!!! So I get this info packet in the mail a few weeks ago, and on it I was able to request my travel dates, a resort, airline etc.

Well I did get the travel dates and air time that I requested. However I did not get my first choice of Resort. I had requested The Grand Floridian, second was the The Yacht & Beach Club.

I got the Yacht Club, I have never stayed at the GF or The Yacht Club, but I am so excited. Can anyone tell me about the Yacht Club? I am getting two standard rooms. Oh heck and it's free, for 5 days/4 nights. All of our passes for the parks for 5 days. Blizzard Beach Pass. The international dinner Magical Gathering. all air fare and $400.00 Disney Dollars.

I am sure we will love the Yacht Club, any room I should request? Any info on this or anything with the resort......... please.

We stayed at the Yc this past August and LOVED it!!! It's a beautiful resort in a great location, a short walk/boat ride to Epcot AND MGM, plus all the fun of the Boardwalk just across the lake.

I just stayed at YC for the first time, two weeks ago. It's a lovely resort! like PalmTreeGirl said, you're only minutes from Epcot, MGM and the Boardwalk. Everything else is only a bus ride away.

I had room 2025- waterview, and a LONG way from the lobby (which was no problem.) From my balcony, I had a *perfect* view of the Illuminations fireworks.

Will your group be mostly adults or mostly little ones? If it's a mostly adult group, I can't imagine a better place to stay than Yacht Club! And if you've got young ones along, they'll LOVE Stormalong Bay.

The Grand Floridian is lovely, but I think YC is just as nice. The GF location can't be beat if you'll spend most of your time at the Magic Kingdom, the YC will be more perfect if you enjoy World Showcase and the Boardwalk...



But, holy smokes!!! A FREE TRIP!!! And lodging at a Deluxe?!!! Unbelievably wonderful!

I think if I had a free trip to any deluxe, I would pick the YC. GF looks lovely too, but there are so many advantages to staying in the Epcot area, especially with a large group. It will be easy for people to meet up if they have different schedules and interests. I found the bus service from the Epcot area to be very good. YC has the best pool in all of Disney World, maybe the WHOLE world.

My group will consist of myself, dd age 19 her girlfriend, age 19 and then 5 of my girlfriends. age's 45 to 52. So a very nice group. Alll of our husbands know each other, as well as all the gals. We feel this is a once in a lifetime trip for all of us to be together. Some have never been to Disney. Me I am the pro in the group. I have a disney room in my new home. I even got married on Mickey Mouse Birthday!!!!!

I am so sure that we will love the Yacht Club. Again, they are putting us up in two standard rooms.

We just stayed at the Yacht Club in November. We had booked 3 standard rooms and placed these requests on our reservation:

nonsmoking, rooms to be close to each other, garden view/lake side.

They accommodated all of our requests and even upgraded us to waterview rooms.

I stayed at the YC in 2001, it was just my daughter and I, and we loved it. We were in room 2001 and we had a great view of the lake. The room was far from the lobby, but there was an a stairway right down the hall that took you outside so it was a good location. We loved going over to the bakery at the Boardwalk, and it was a nice walk to Epcot and to MGM.
You will have a great time!

Standard rooms can be overlooking the front of the resort or gardens areas on the back of the resort. There are some lovely ones overlooking the wedding pavilion and are right next to Water view rooms.

I would request that area.

Your teens will love the Yacht Club, pool and access to the Boardwalk.

First I must start by saying IM SOOOOO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW are you lucky!! If I could go on any trip I mean ANY it would be to the Yacht club!!!!!!!! We are going o Disney in a few weeks and Im actually sad Im staying at the Grand Floridian!!! I just love the Yacht!! you will have a Fabulous time!!!!!

MsDisney - Congrats! That is just the coolest a free trip for 7 to WDW!!!! And I think YC will be perfect for your group. I think you'll really enjoy being so close to Epcot and MGM. It is so nice to be able to just walk over to Epcot for a nice dinner in WS and then see Illuminations! Be sure to report back after you've taken your trip!!!

Congrats on winning your trip - it's great to be such a Disney Fan and get such a great trip. I'm sure you'll have a blast. It is nice that you have chosen to go with a group of girlfriends - I have a group of girlfriends that get togther on a regular basis and it has created some cherished memories - I'm sure your trip will too!

Can you pick any time of year to go or does it expire within a certain timeframe? That sounds like a great trip! The YC is very nice.

I a year to take my trip, however they do have black out dates. I am going in May.

Congratulations on your trip! As others have pointed out you will be within walking distance of some of the best restaurants available. Also, walking distance or boat ride to Epcot or MGM! I have stayed at YC and have enjoyed it. Have a great vacation!
