There is a group of us going to Disney in August. We were considering booking the Disney Pirate Cruise for our kids, the one that leaves from the GF. Our kids are 8,7,6 and 4. Has anyone sent there kids on this? Did they like it? Was it worth it? I'm worried about sending them off with life vests on in 90 degree weather....can you say HOT? What do they do if there is a storm? Return money, delay the cruise, or do I lose my money? Basically, any information would be wonderful:yay:

DD8 and DS4 went on this cruise last October. They had a blast and are requesting it again for our next trip.

It was raining a bit the morning of our cruise, and the CMs told us if they made the decision to cancel the cruise, they would do a scavenger hunt through the Grand Floridian & Polynesian.

Make sure to be back at the dock as the boat returns. The antics from the pirate ship are well worth it. :)

for the reply! My DD8 is convinced that she'd rather do this than any character meal. Is there a good place to eat CS style at Grand Floridian? Maybe even have a few drinks....

My son did this trip last May and absolutely LOVED it!! He still talks about it.

It was well worth the money.:yay:

DD7 and DS4 did this in January from the Yacht Club and they loved it. They went on a "treasure hunt" which included following clues. One led them into World Showcase at Epcot before it opened, and they looked for clues there, too. They had a good time and were fed lunch. They also got a bag of "loot", pirate bandanas and pirate hats.

One thing I will say, I was surprised by how many young kids were on it. There were a few kids older than DD7, but she was definitely in the top third of ages. I would bet that at least half of the kids on the cruise were 4. Maybe it was just the luck of the draw, but I swear some of those kids looked even younger.

I would say this is a nice alternative to crazy character meals, and gives you a few hours to relax.

My kids just did this last Monday (2-11-08). They went on the one from GF. They had a great time! There was a little girl who decided not to go at the last minute. The parents couldn't get there money back (they need 24 hours notice), but still gave her the snack lunch and had her older brother, who was still going, a bag of treasure.
My DH and I ate at the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast while they were gone. It was nice to have a few hours alone with him, having a nice meal and exploring the resort (we were staying at POR).
I highly recommend it!:thumbsup2

My youngest two (8 and 5) boys did this last August out of the GF. We got together with my best friend who was down the same week. Their kids were (10, 8 and 4) two boys and a girl.

While they were gone we had breakfast together it was fun to sit and relax without the younger ones.

The kids still have their loot and bandana from the cruise, I highly recommend it.
