Disney pin codes + Bill = TROUBLE *11/01 Almost time for our Happy Place*

Crowded classrooms and half-day sessions are a tragic waste of our greatest national resource - the minds of our children. – Walt Disney

Before I get to the plans, I have a confession, I bought a couple more things for the trip:

A friend of mine sells Avon so I got this over the door holder:

I also got 3 lip balms:

I still have to get a pencil sharpener for Christian, then I am done… maybe?

Day 1 plans/goals

PLANS:

We will be heading out of Southern Illinois on Nov. 3rd, a Tuesday, and oh my goodness - a SCHOOL DAY!! Yes, we are one of “those” families. Christian’s school excuses absences in these instances. Abbey will be talking to the principal and teacher to see how they want to handle the work from the missed days. Hopefully Josh and family will be ready when we show up to get them and we will be driving 3½ hours to Nashville, TN.

We will check in to the hotel, get settled in, go to Opry Mills Mall, and eat somewhere. I think it will be good to spend some time apart, and be back at the hotel by 8pm. Then time to settle down , get everyone ready for bed, because we have to travel early, then get the laptop out for the slideshow.

GOALS:

- Get out of Illinois on time
- Keep arguments with Josh to a minimum
42kmoig.gif

- Bite tongue before I talk
- Separate at mall with understanding that NOTHING will be purchased by Mom here
- Showers and get everyone ready for bed fairly early
- Hope that the slideshow plays correctly and the kids don’t disturb all the guests with their screams
- Get to bed and sleep (I never sleep well before going to WDW)

Abbey was going to get up early and take a shower before the plane, but when I told her we had to BE at the airport by 6:30am she changed her mind. It takes her 45 minutes to dry and straighten her hair. How will this factor into my dreams of rope drops? Stay tuned folks.

This trip has to be better than the last one when we took someone, doesn’t it?

Ace time: We had to tie him up to the old wheelchair so the technician could adjust the new chair for Bill. We tried to have him stay in the bedroom but he threw a fit. He was very happy when I brought him back in the living room:

Next installment… Day 2 what are we gonna do?

I LOVE this one! It's going on our "school room" wall for sure :thumbsup2

It's good to have goals, Tracy. ;):goodvibes

Oh boy. Maybe all it will take is getting her to rope drop once and she'll embrace the ponytail?

I wouldn't even worry about that. You know it will be.

Yikes, 45 minutes to fix her hair! And then will it stay straight in the Florida Humidity?

We had problems with getting ready and out the door on time when we traveled with my parents. My Dad was up and ready to go at 7:00 am (um Dad nothing's open yet) My Husband wanted to sleep until at least 8:00 am.

Then threatened us and were otherwise rude.

In retrospect we should have said you go on ahead and we will meet you at the park in an hour or so. We had two small children to get dressed and ready and it takes more time. My Mom wasn't that willing to help get the kids dressed and ready to go. I asked her to change Ethan's diaper but she didn't know how to put on the disposable diaper. (It had been a long time and she used cloth diapers on us. So when she went to put it on him she couldn't figure out why the diaper's tabs weren't sticky. They are velcro now)

My recommendation is if you and Bill are ready to go and she isn't then offer to meet up with them later.

Good plans and goals for Day 1)....

only 2 more months :yay:

I see ponytails and a baseball hat in Abbey's future...if she has natural curly hair...don't even go there...I do and I straightend my hair for the trip down in 08 and it lasted untill we stepped off the plan in Orlando :rotfl:

Oh I second that! Tell Abbey that your DIS friends suggest that if she does really care about how her hair looks than she should plan to put in up in some quick fashion. I pretty much wear my in pig-tail braids with a baseball cap. Otherwise it becomes a narly mess in that Florida heat!

I hope you make rope drop! Maybe she could straighten her hair the night before?

She was thinking about doing that. Every time I have seen it, it has been wavy but not really curly.

I LOVE this one! It's going on our "school room" wall for sure :thumbsup2

I love Walt's quotes. That is the thing, she straightens it and then it goes in a ponytail :rotfl:.

They have already been told that Bill and I are leaving at a certain time, if you want to join us great, if you don't we aren't waiting around :thumbsup2.

I have never seen her in a hat, but she is almost always in a ponytail. I think the humidity will change her mind about fixing her hair :rotfl2:.

I will tell her my DIS friends said NO, stop that straightening, go have fun!! :lmao:

my advice concerning your trip and your son...

Expect that there will be many times that he drives you crazy and vice versa. Expect a time or two or three that he throws a tantrum. It's been the nature of your relationship so far. I think if you build those expectations in then it won't affect your trip as much as if you expect everything to go well because it's Disney....

Look for the small victories and little things that make each day Magical, no matter what happens!:):thumbsup2

Tracy do you honestly think you're done shopping for the trip? I don't :rotfl: Those kids are so lucky :goodvibes

And 45 minutes to do her hair :faint: OMG tell her to get a wig ;) :rotfl:

Three Our Fathers and three Hail Marys should do it....;)

Sorry... I couldn't resist a little Catholic school humor....

- Hope that the slideshow plays correctly and the kids don’t disturb all the guests with their screams

Ha! Maybe you should "warn" hotel security ahead of time!

I'm sure Abbey will embrace the pony tail by Day 2!!

Kathy

Just wanted to say "hi" since I saw you will be stopping here in Nashville. We live about 15 from Nashville off I24...Hope you have a wonderful trip!

If I were a betting woman I would bet that you aren't done....

Day 1 plans look great! I hope you get out of SoIL on time and don't hit any traffic.

I have one recommendation for Abbey...ponytail.

Good advice my Peep! You could even write it right into the schedule. :lmao: After it's all done, you can check it off. If Josh tries to throw another tantrum you can just tell him that there are no more left for day - but you have another one schedule for tomorrow, and he can have it then!

They have already been told that Bill and I are leaving at a certain time, if you want to join us great, if you don't we aren't waiting around :thumbsup2.

Have you told Bill about this plan yet? He's a big 'ol softie and will probably want to wait for them.

I know all about hair straighteng in this faily we have 3 yes 3 who do it daily!!!!!! And I 'm not one of them

Hi! Just got all caught up!

Rope drop. Hmm. I'd go for one day of rope drop. It's hard with kids. And I don't know how Abbey parents, and it's hard to move another mom along and not step on toes. So I'd pick one day of rope drop. Also, kids who do rope drop are dead tired by 1pm. My last WDW trip was with my girlfriends in Dec, and my, what a difference from my child and husband!

My girl is 5, and only now will I attempt Fantasmic. I'd let the adults and Christian do it, and take Hannah on Toy Story Mania one more time. That's just my opinion.

Maybe you can mention that you do evening showers - like, come home, rest, shower, go back to the park. That way Abbey can just hop out of bed and throw on her new Disney baseball cap!

Also, if you're going to do an Epcot dinner for the kids, we loved Norway. Girl heavy, but it was adorable. Even my crusty crabby dad was tearing up seeing my daughter with the princesses.

Plans look amazing, and I so need those containers to hold my next load of trip stuff!!!

I hope you will be able to make it to rope drop especially at MK with the kids. They are going to be so excited after you show them the slide show! I bet Abbey will give up on straightening her hair after day 1 in FL...although it will be Nov. so it might not be as humid.

I am betting that you are not done shopping yet. :goodvibes

I don't know about you, but unless it's a really late night I prefer to shower at night when I'm at Disney. All the sunscreen, sweat and germs (sorry I'm a bit of a germaphobe...) that get on you all day - yuck! It also makes for a much quicker morning. (And straightened hair doesn't usually stay straight for very long in the humidity anyways!) :goodvibes

Thanks Jordan . That is my game plan this time. I will not argue in my happy place, I will just walk off and enjoy the scenery :cloud9:.

Hello!! Thanks so much for reading. We love Nashville so much. I can't wait to get back.

This is so cute!!!

I hope we get out of Southern Illinois on time too, but you know Rte 13 between Carbondale and Marion sometimes :sad2:.

OMG I love the temper tantrum schedule, that is priceless. Bill has said at home he will wait for people at Disney not so much. He says if he can get up and around they can to.

I know all about hair straighteng in this faily we have 3 yes 3 who do it daily!!!!!! And I 'm not one of them

Hi Rosie! 3 that do it daily, oh my goodness. That would drive me insane.

We have discussed them going back to the hotel in the middle of the day for a rest, don't know if they will do it or not but I told them many families do that. We are doing Teppen Edo, Christian likes Japanese food from what Abbey says and she thinks they will enjoy the show.

Bill and I have never done MK rope drop and I am hoping we do it this trip.

Tracy,

Just checking in! Hope all is well with you and Bill....

Hi Jordan all is well I will post an update sometime today.

I don't know about you, but unless it's a really late night I prefer to shower at night when I'm at Disney. I prefer the night showers too. When we have traveled together that is what they usually do, it is just I don't think they understand how huge WDW is.
