Disney Picture of the day Part 5

Jeff,

As close as you are, you *really* need to go to "Eppacot" (as my then 5 YO daughter called it) at night, if to see Illuminations if for no other reason. Like all the parks, it is just a whole different atmosphere after the sun goes down. We love it.

Great Banzai! (Bonsai) tree shots, BTW. Believe it or not, that's what my daughter called Toy Story's "Bullseye" when she was little, and still does on occasion, although it comes out more like, "Buns-eye".

Oh, and next time you are at MK after dark, try Jungle Cruise...it's like a totally different ride!

I agree- it's not that we've never been- just not in a few years. And not since I've had a dslr. Once at dusk as we were leaving because the wife & kids were exhausted and no one was interested in walking around world showcase AGAIN so I could take MORE pictures of it at night. Sometimes I wonder about those people. :rolleyes1

I'll have to try the JC at night. Good idea.

Where's your sense of adventure? :rotfl2: My kids would absolutely love me if we went on IASW over and over again. They just love it.

Thats funny- when my oldest was little- maybe 1 1/2- we took her on IASM for the first time. We were in the front of the boat and she stood for the ride holding on to the little rail there. When the ride ended we tried to pick her up to go and she screamed at the top of her lungs. The whole queue had to stop for a minute while my wife & I had to pry her little fingers away from the boat. :goodvibes

Never have taken any stills of Illuminations, although I'd like to. It's just that I have not yet figured out how to manage a still camera *and* a camcorder. Last time, I ended up filming rides, parades, and shows, and used the still camera for "artsy" shots (not that my stuff could really be classified as art, though...). I did find that the lightweight monopod I brought was very useful for videography (hands get awfully tired about halfway thru a show or parade) but not so much for stills.

Mrs. YEKCIM is going to bring her D200 (daughter rolls eyes and says, "blap..blap..blap..blap", rapidly, when Mrs. Y shoots in burst mode, mimicking the D200's sound and rate of fire) in July and I'm sure she will make up for all my shortcomings. I doubt, however, that I will be able to convince her to post here. She tolerates DisneyWorld instead of enjoying it.

I don't think airplanes can fly over disney. I'm kinda creeped out now. You guys have great eyes to spot this.

I fly once a month from North Florida to South Florida and the flight path from south to north is always right over WDW. I've even been able to see fireworks when flying at night. Of course they look like little itty bitty sparklers from 17,000 feet. I once took my binoculars so I could try and get a better look!

I have to say though that picture looks much closer than what my planes fly to the parks!

Sorry if I posted this one before.

Sad to see this place close. Though not one of our favorites it was still a nice place to eat. Any word on what will be replacing it.

Where were the flower photos taken? Somewhere in ToonTown, like Minnie's house?

Hi! I'm sorry, I didn't see your question yesterday. Yes, the flowers are taken in the back room at Minnie's house. I thought they were so cute that I made a point to take a picture of each of them this past trip. :goodvibes

I'll show off some of my kaleidoscopes of WDW.
